Announcing the Release of the ATIXA One Policy, One Process Model

The ATIXA Model Policy and Procedure for Civil Rights Equity Grievance Resolution for all Faculty, Students and Employees

ATIXA has developed an approach called the One Policy, One Process Model, permittingall discrimination complaints (age, race, sex, gender, nationality, etc.) to be resolved using one institution-wide policy, and one stand-alone resolution process, applied to all complaints involving faculty, students and staff. It harnesses the existing resources of many departments to minimize the need for added staff and expense. It is not only Title IX compliant; it serves the best practices of the civil rights approach with an emphasis on meaningful remedies, social justice, victim empowerment and advocacy, comprehensive investigation and prompt, humane, non-adversarial resolution of everything from bias incidents to stalking, to rape and intimate partner violence. This 26-page document is intended to help campuses to be compliant with Title IX and all other forms of civil rights laws and relevant grievance processes.

To learn more about our model, receive information on purchasing and to discuss additional Implementation Assistance packages, please contact Marianne Price, Director of Educational Programs, at marianne@atixa.org or 610-644-7858.

ATIXA Tip of the Week

This Tip of the Week represents the third in a multi-part series dedicated to the University of Montana’s Resolution Agreement with both OCR and DOJ released on May 9, 2013.

Part 3: Mandatory Reporting and the University of Montana Resolution Agreement
Authored by Daniel C. Swinton, J.D., Ed.D., Associate Executive Director, ATIXA

One of the most common questions we continue to receive pertains to mandatory reporting under Title IX by “responsible employees”. The University of Montana’s Resolution Agreement with OCR and DOJ addresses this subject head-on, providing clear direction for other schools to follow. Learn more about what the Resolution Agreement says about reporting incidents of sex discrimination on your campus by reading our full Tip of the Week.

Who Is a Mandated Reporter, Of What? - Getting Some Clarity

Brett A. Sokolow, Esq., Executive Director, ATIXA

One of the most frequent questions we receive at ATIXA is about the sexual misconduct reporting responsibilities of campus employees, especially faculty members. The question is complicated by the fact that three federal laws each impact this duty differently. This week's featured resource examines reporting under the Clery Act, Title VII and Title IX and offers guidelines for employees of colleges and universities.
