So who is Ruth Bedell?

Ruth commenced her DB racing career 23 years ago with a fledgling team in Cultus Lake, B.C.  When a suitable team was started in Fort Langley, she joined FLCC and has been a stalwart racer ever since.
Ruth has raced in almost every B.C. 55+ Games since DB was included and enjoyed winning Gold a few times. She has also raced at PanAm and Club Crew Championships.
As a classic example of being the athlete that you can be, Ruth is well into her 70’s. She continues to race and as Captain of D-Fyance, she leads (and pushes and shoves, too) the team. They are thrilled to be coming to Montreal to compete in the FIRST Division D Championships. And to prove her enthusiasm and determination – if that actually still needs doing – a slight deterioration in her own health means that she now paddles with oxygen, but is quite undaunted.
FLCC is proud to have to have two teams in the Senior D category in their club. The other is a recreational team that enjoys the fun and exercise of paddling together. Ruth was instrumental is creating this team too.
Ruth has pushed and pushed and pushed to have other clubs develop Senior D teams and is thrilled to have a division at the Nationals.
