I love this little town and all the different events happening in the same bunch of days. First, a lot of us attend the Central Florida Dulcimer Festival. It's one of the best. After the festival, on Sunday, I get to perform with Rick Thum. Then I do my three-day at the same time he does his. The weather is usually beautiful, and we eat well all week.

I've been coming to Townsend, TN, at least once a year for the last 25 years or so. Dulcimer builder, player, and teacher Mike Clemmer really put the place on the map for a lot of us. In fact, we'll visit his shop after lunch one day. You're so close to the Smokeys. It's pretty stunning, really.

I love being so close to all the history of Washington, D.C. After completing this Alexandria three-day, I'm performing Black Berry Winter, a concerto for dulcimer and strings, with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. One of the performances will be at the The George Washington Masonic National Memorial. I sure hope my three-day students will be able to make one of the performances. It should be a real treat.
