Dear MacLaren families,
As we look ahead to the schedule this semester, we want to make sure all families are aware of the significantly different schedule we have during the week of state testing. We have created a schedule that has a large impact for four days, but then allows us to get back to normal curricular instruction as soon as possible. Although this has a tremendous impact on our schedule every year, we have found that this is best to minimize disruptions for learning.
Below please find detailed schedules for the week of April 14. One schedule outlines expectations for attendance by day and the other by grade. Please read both schedules very closely, and note the following:
-
When not testing: Students in grades 3-12 who do not have an assigned assessment will be given projects or tests to finish at home. Instructions will be coming from the appropriate teachers and Heads of School. Juniors and seniors also have additional orchestra and drama rehearsals.
-
Drop-off time: Unless otherwise noted, drop-off time in the morning is the same (US: 7:25-7:40 a.m., LS: 7:45-8:00 a.m.).
-
Snacks: On half-days, no lunch is served; students should bring a snack and water bottle.
-
Parent Refusal: Parents have the right to opt their children out of state assessments. Please see our Refusal policy; note that parents must fill out one Refusal form per child.
Here are the schedules:
Thank you all for your cooperation. If you have questions about state testing, please contact your Head of School.
