walkorrunTeam DOORWAYS and GO! St. Louis

On April 7 and 8, 51 clients, friends, donors, board members and staff came together to form TEAM DOORWAYS to participate in the GO! St. Louis Marathon and Family Fitness Weekend. Thirty-eight walked or ran in the 5K on Saturday and 13 walked or ran in the 7K, half marathon or marathon on Sunday. Thank you to everyone who participated!  In the four years we've been an official charity of GO! St. Louis, we've raised nearly $30,000 in support of programs and services at DOORWAYS.  We are already talking about plans for next year's team!

AwardCeremonyAnnual Dinner & Awards Ceremony

On April 3, DOORWAYS held its Annual Dinner, generously hosted by SSM St. Mary's Hospital and sponsored by US Bank Private Wealth Management.  The Michael Edlin Award, DOORWAYS' highest honor, was presented to Carole Hunt. The law firm Sandberg, Phoenix and von Gontard received the Generosity Award, and the Volunteer Award was presented to Rev. Jeff Moore. These long-time supporters were recognized for their generosity, not only of their resources, but also their time, expertise and leadership. Congratulations and thank you to all!

(Past and present recipients of the Michael Edlin Award, who were in attendance at the dinner, are underlined.  From left to right, Jay Moore, Opal Jones, Carole Hunt, Diane Levine, Richard Ellerbrake, Christine Pennell and Jay Joern. For more pictures from the event, click here.)

As spring days are slowly replacing days of winter, we wish to thank the Boeing Employee Community Fund for providing funding to help us provide emergency housing and subsidies over the winter months. The 2017/2018 winter brought increased requests for housing assistance from individuals and families. Generous funders, such as the Boeing Employee Community Fund, allow DOORWAYS to respond to these needs. Thank you from DOORWAYS!

Catholic Appeal Logo
Every year, the Archdiocese of St. Louis undertakes its annual appeal to raise funds to continue providing many services to the community. Their 2018 goal is $14.2 million. ACA has regularly supported DOORWAYS through this campaign. This past weekend, two DOORWAYS leaders presented information about the ACA and DOORWAYS at local churches. Opal Jones, president and CEO, spoke at Our Lady of the Pillar on Lindbergh, while Jim Timmerberg, director of development, visited St. David's Church in Arnold.

Recently the Home Builders Association (HBA) presented checks to those agencies selected to receive funding in the 2018 competitive grant cycle. HBA president, Dale Black of CMS Homes (left), presented the check to Jim Timmerberg, director of development at DOORWAYS. "All of us are grateful to the HBA for this critical support of our mission to provide housing, health, and hope to area homeless individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS," noted Timmerberg.

TributesTRIBUTES

DID YOU KNOW.....
Your donation to DOORWAYS can be given as a tribute to a loved one?!

Question:
How often does one action yield two results?
Answer: All the time, if you designate your DOORWAYS donation as a tribute to a loved one!

You may make a monetary gift in HONOR of someone's birthday, anniversary, new job, new baby...the list is endless. You may also provide a monetary gift as a MEMORIAL for someone who passed away. Or, you may purchase a tribute BRICK to be placed in our garden at the Cooper House campus. If you wish to help us GROW THE TRIBUTE GARDEN, you may select from three brick sizes: $100, $250, or $500.

By expressing your admiration, love, and respect through a TRIBUTE GIFT, you are also providing critical funding to help DOORWAYS deliver housing, health, and hope to homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. Click here for more information about making a tribute gift while also supporting DOORWAYS' compassionate care to the most vulnerable in our community.
