Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and
understanding, be present with those who take counsel
for the renewal and mission of your Church.
Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Book of Common Prayer, pg 818.

Charlene O'Donnell
I have been at St. Alban’s for over sixty years (with a break in time while living out of town). I joined the congregation in 1960 when I was 13 years old. I came from Philadelphia, PA, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Overbrook, PA where I was baptized and confirmed, a cradle Episcopalian. I was married to Tim, at St. Alban’s in 1971 and both of our boys, Bill and JP, although baptized in Chicago and Cincinnati, were confirmed at St. Alban’s. JP was married to Jessica at St. Alban’s and their first child Olivia was baptized at St. Alban’s.
I now serve in various ministries including Altar Guild, Chalice, Lector, Usher, Vestry, Junior Warden, Rector Search Committee, and have been Committee chair of the Worship Committee, Communications Committee, and most recently the Reopening Committee. I retired from Medical Office Management in 2012 and enjoy being part of the workings at St. Alban’s.

As Junior Warden, this past year, I have had the opportunity to participate and study the business side of our church. I was a member of the Finance Committee and liaison to the Fiscal Trustees from the Vestry. I was part of the Stewardship Committee this year and in 2019 attended the Congregational Leadership Initiative conference with Fr. Devin and Tom Mack.

St. Alban’s has always been a comfortable place for me to worship and to learn. I worked for Betty Varney, Christian Education Director, when I was thirteen, attended church with friends during High School, was married here at 25, enrolled our sons in church school and watched them serve as acolytes. St. Alban’s has always welcomed our family and been a place of comfort and given me a chance to grow, now, sixty plus years later, I want to be part of giving future generations that same chance by making sure St. Alban’s continues to grow and welcomes new members.
Miranda Cox
Miranda Cox and her family started attending St. Alban’s when they moved to Bexley 21 years ago.

Miranda chairs the Social Concerns committee and previously served on the Vestry from 2017-2019.

She is a life-long Episcopalian and grew up and went to school on the east coast.

She works as a grant writer at a downtown healthcare and homeless services agency.

Miranda and her husband, Ned Foley, are the empty-nester parents of Max and Robbie Foley.

She says, "I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with the Rector, the Vestry, and the Senior Warden as we build upon the many gifts of our parish to share God's grace."
Lauren Yen Leahy

I have been a part of St. Alban’s for 30+ years. I was both baptized and confirmed in the church. Father Jupin during his time with St. Alban’s, presided over my wedding at Trinity Episcopal Church downtown. A large part of my youth was spent at St. Alban’s – participating in Sunday School, Christmas Pageants, assisting in the nursery, Counselor for Summer Bible Camp, Youth Group and as an acolyte/torch bearer. Always a Rummage Sale enthusiast! Since our return to Columbus in 2017, I have enjoyed getting more involved with the church – assisting with the nursery refresh, working on the Turkey Trot, serving on the Stewardship Committee and hosting the occasional coffee hour!

I am a graduate of Columbus School for Girls. I received my BA from Villanova University in Art History and Business. I then received my MA from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Manhattan. Professionally, I worked in the secondary art market in Manhattan before transitioning into Development with independent schools. I currently run an independent art advisory business.

In addition to St. Alban’s, I serve on the Development Committee for Local Matters, the Women’s Board for Franklin Park Conservatory, Twig 2 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital and help co-chair CMA Comes Alive! at the Columbus Museum of Art. My husband Matt and I live in New Albany with our two children, Molly (7) and Jack (5).

I have always found comfort, strength, compassion and generosity in the St. Alban’s community. I look forward to deepening my involvement with the church and helping to strengthen it not only for my family, but for generations to come.

Mike Sanderson
With the Church:
I was brought up in the Methodist Church, but my family was not very involved.
In the early 1970’s, at my wife Ginny’s encouragement, I joined St. Paul’s Episcopal Church which was downtown on Broad St.  I became very involved in many functions.  I was a lay reader, became certified as a lay minister (can’t remember the exact title) and was briefly on the Vestry.  There was a break-up of the Episcopal Church and the St. Paul’s building was given to a split-off group.  We moved membership to St. Alban's and continued strong participation.  I got very involved in directing homeless meals and with Ginny, executed a number of church related meals/parties.  Around 2000 we moved out of Bexley and for a number of reasons, shopped around for an alternate church.  In 2018, when Ginny passed away, I found myself back at St. Albans – she is interred in the memorial garden.  Since then, I have worked with Rachel Barnes on the homeless meals, joined the Social Concerns Committee and worked a bit with youth education.  Currently I am focusing on working to fix-up and clean-up a number of items in the Ed. Building that have deteriorated or been left unattended over the years.

Personal: I was born in Toledo, OH but have spent the majority of my life in the Columbus area.  I currently live in Groveport but with Ginny, my wife of 46 years, and my 2 children, Rachel and David, lived quite a while in Bexley.

I am retired but was a Senior Professor and Dean of, initially, Electronics Technology and then data Networking at DeVry University.  As well, I ran a successful consulting business and have written 2 electronics technology textbooks and have developed a number of electronic or mechanical inventions/innovations.

Ginny passed away in 2018 and is interred in the St. Alban’s Memorial Garden.  She and I were very involved in working with Bexley Schools and the Bexley Rec. programs.  Interests I have had: I was a professional magician while in college – still involved as an amateur (and apparatus/book collector), raced sports cars, love to ‘fix’ things, love movies, read a lot and currently help with my granddaughter’s schooling.
Marikate Leavens & Tom Mack

Marikate Leavens & Tom Mack have been attending St. Alban’s since 2016.  They serve as ushers when church is holding in person services.  Marikate participated on the search committee for our rector, Fr. Devin Rodgers, and has also participated in a new members welcome event and a social justice vigil held at St. Alban’s.  Tom has just started his service as Treasurer to St. Alban’s and is working with Fr. Devin and Charlene O'Donnell as part of the Congregational Leadership Initiative. They are home cooks for the Shelter Meals ministry and sponsor a child in Liberia in her education through the PIMIL ministry.  Their son was baptized at St. Alban’s in 2017.  They are very pleased to have found a spiritual home at St. Alban’s.
In Marikate’s personal life she works for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, supervising the screening and pre-admission review departments. Marikate has been a licensed social worker for 27 years, working in the field of elder care for 25 of those years.  Tom is with PNC bank.
Tom and Marikate have been married for 27 years and have one son, Noah, and 1 dog, Lola. Thomas and Marikate are originally from Michigan, but have lived in the Columbus area for over 30 years and currently reside in Bexley.
