Annual Meeting and Holiday Dinner Party!


Sunday, December 7, 2025, 4:00 pm


Community Performance and Art Center

1250 W Continental Rd, Green Valley

 

Join us for a brief business meeting followed by dinner and socializing. The Annual Meeting will include votes by members in attendance to accept the slate of board nominees (see slate below).


Cost is $60 for the holiday dinner party. There is no charge to attend the business meeting only.

VP Fundraising: Tatiana and Tom Hladky (Incumbents)

Tom and Tatiana moved to Green Valley in July 2020 from Tucson. They lived in Tucson since 1988 and prior to that, they lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Tom retired from a large electrical firm where he was Sr. Project Manager on projects such as Apple data centers; Tesla battery plant; Naval facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants.

Tatiana retired from the University of Arizona where she worked at the Campus Agricultural Center. She served as president of her HOA in the Catalina Foothills; president of Beta Group at the University of Arizona, and served as a liaison between UA staff members and the Arizona State Legislature. She also served as facility manager at the Junior League of Tucson for several years. 

 

They have been very active in Democratic local politics since moving to Tucson, working for various candidates. The Hladkys (pronounced lad-key) travel every summer for three months with their dog and cat all over the USA in their RV.  

VP Headquarters: Judy Knape (Incumbent)

Judy Knape has had varied careers including tax attorney, legal services attorney, charter yacht captain, and trade association executive director. She has served on the boards of a co-op school, an historical society, and a trade association. She has been involved in a variety of community activities including women’s clubs, political campaigns, and sailing clubs, and has volunteered at schools, parks, lighthouses, and other government visitor centers. She has been an avid Democrat since college, and is very committed to trying to preserve our democracy.

 

Judy has been a resident of Green Valley since 2019, and has been the Green Valley Democrats' VP of Headquarters for the past two years.


VP Programs: Lisa Woerner

Lisa Woerner is a retired Project Manager with more than 33 years’ experience as a Department of Navy acquisition professional for Naval Aviation major systems and Marine Corps major systems. Ms. Woerner has broad experience in working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Department of Defense user community, U.S. Congressional Committee staff members, and industry partners both foreign and domestic.


Ms. Woerner holds a B.S. in Communication from George Mason University and a M.S. in Communication from the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale.


As a college student, Ms. Woerner coordinated creation of the first hotline for drug addicts seeking help in Richmond, VA. Over the years, she has served as a volunteer mentor, tutor, and advocate for a variety of populations including jail inmates, court-involved teens, and inner-city AmeriCorps recruits. Ms. Woerner has participated in voter outreach activities related to presidential elections. Currently, she is a volunteer dispatcher for Friends In Deed and volunteers in the Green Valley Democrats' office.


A life-long Democrat, Ms. Woerner is committed to promoting Democratic ideals such as actively advocating for, upholding, and strengthening core democratic values.


VP Publicity: Henne Queisser (Incumbent)

Henne Queisser is running for re-election as the VP of Publicity. In addition to serving as Publicity VP for the past four years, she also manages the GVD website and has served as the newsletter editor.

 

She and her partner, Ed, moved to Green Valley from Seattle 15 years ago after Henne retired from a 25-year career in the computer software industry. She has been involved in various local organizations and volunteer activities, including membership on the boards of alliance4action (a4a), the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Soledad HOA.

 

She states, “I feel communication is a critical function of our Green Valley Democrats organization and the key to active participation in the democratic process. I look forward to continuing my role in facilitating publicity about GV Dems and the issues that are important to us.”


VP Voter Outreach: Susan Ruff

Susan Ruff moved to Tucson in 1980 from New Jersey, where she was raised and attended college. She has spent most of her career working in the arts (Center for Creative Photography at the UA and Etherton Gallery) and in tourism for the Patagonia Area Business Association. More recently, she and her husband had a resale business specializing in Mid-Century Modern furniture and decor.


She has been involved with human rights work since 2001 with Humane Borders, Casa Alitas, and Green Valley/Sahuarita Samaritans. She volunteered for Mark Kelly’s Senate campaign in 2020 and 2022.  

 

She and her husband, Mike Wilson, moved to Green Valley in 2024, where she began volunteering with the Green Valley Democrats in fall 2024 to Get Out the Vote. Since then she has become a member of the Green Valley Democrats’ Voter Outreach Committee and the Rally Team.


Member at Large: Brenda Allee Bates (Incumbent)

Brenda Allee Bates was born and reared in rural central Missouri. She has an MBA from Lincoln University. She had a varied career working for state and local governments, large corporations, and non-profits as well as owning her own consulting business. 


She became a Member at Large of Green Valley Democrats' Board in January of this year and has been facilitating the Wednesday morning discussion group, which she has found the to be highly informative and therapeutic.
