The Conservation Expo kicked off with a grand opening reception yesterday. The Expo is a great place to network with conservation partners and members of industry, and learn about the newest technologies and most relevant issues affecting natural resources management and conservation districts.

NGLI 2022 COHORT HOSTS FIRST MEETING
|
The second cohort of the Next Generation Leadership Institute (NGLI) met for the first time yesterday. NGLI was established to equip leaders with skills and resources related to personal, civil, and organizational leadership development.
The 2022 Cohort participants are:
- Laura Boyd – Ohio
- Jennifer Casey – Florida
- Jamie Irving – New Hampshire
- Vaughn T. Poe – Alabama
- Terri Preeg-Riggsby – Oregon
- Josh Smith – New Mexico
- Samuel “Grant” Victor – Oklahoma
The inaugural cohort will be graduating today at our Leadership Luncheon, so be sure to attend the event to hear more about the work they've accomplished.

NACD BOARD MEETS IN ORLANDO
|
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Board of Directors met on Saturday, February 12 and Sunday, February 13 to begin their meetings.
Saturday’s meeting included an address from NACD President Michael Crowder, an update from NACD CEO Jeremy Peters, and a financial report from NACD Secretary-Treasurer Gary Blair. Cynthia Mills, Founder, President, and CEO of The Leader’s Haven also provided some leadership training for board members.

At the Board’s meeting on Sunday, Dr. Thomas Easley from Mind, Heart for Diversity Consulting discussed diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The Board also heard panel discussions about the Climate Action Task Force and the 2022 Farm Bill.
The Board will continue to meet during NACD’s meeting this week.

- Monday's Opening General Session begins at 8:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom.
- The Leadership Luncheon begins at 12:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom.
- Breakout sessions will run from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and 4:00-5:00 p.m. Be sure to check out the website or the app for descriptions on each session.
- The Conservation Expo will open in International Central/South from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and 2:15-5:00 p.m.
- The NCF Live Action begins with a happy hour at 6:00 p.m. The auction starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom.

USDA Hosts Climate-Smart Webinar

Climate-smart agriculture is an important topic at this year’s Annual Meeting! If you’ve missed out on any of these vital conversations or want the opportunity to see how you can get involved, you can take advantage of the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities webinar hosted by USDA on Wednesday, February 16 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Eastern. The webinar will focus on the details of the funding opportunities available through this new program, which provides up to $1 billion for pilot projects that create market opportunities for commodities produced using climate-smart practices.
