The SCDRP 9th Annual Meeting will take place in Wilmington, NC on February 4-5, 2025 at the Aloft Wilmington at Coastline Center, right in downtown Wilmington! Rooms are available to book at a discounted rate of $133/night plus taxes at the following link: Book your group rate for SCDRP Annual Meeting. Meeting registration opens September 15.


We are still looking for volunteers to join the Annual Meeting Steering Committee to help us plan speaker/panel sessions, field trips, and activities. If you're interested in joining the Steering Committee, please email us at scdrp@secoora.org by Friday, September 6.

9th Annual Meeting Sponsors Needed!

SCDRP is seeking sponsors for the 9th Annual Meeting at the Gold ($5,000), Silver ($2,500), and Bronze ($1,000) levels. Help us reach our Mentorship Program fundraising goal


We are seeking $4,000 in donations/sponsorships to cover the costs of SCDRP memberships for all participants in the first SCDRP Mentorship cohort, many of whom are students and job-seekers. We are thrilled to share that we have 22 people enrolled in our inaugural Mentorship cohort! Our mentees include grad and doctoral students, as well as early and mid-career professionals looking to build skills and experience in the field of resilience. New Marine Reserve in Puerto Rico

 This month, a new marine reserve, Submerged Gardens Natural Reserve of Vega Baja and Manatí, was established on the north coast of Puerto Rico. At 43,701 acres, the reserve contains one of the largest concentrations of Elkhorn coral in the Caribbean. The establishment of the reserve is a major win for resilience; coral reefs act as natural barriers that protect coasts during hurricanes and other severe weather. The reserve was established as a result of collaboration between local communities, local government, and environmental organizations, including Surfrider.

CERN/MPC and Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) developed a comprehensive course focused on integrating green infrastructure and nature-based solutions into planning strategies to bolster community resilience.

The Southeast Regional Climate Center (SERCC) requests feedback on "Expanded Caribbean Section of Southeast Quarterly Impacts and Outlook Report": Google form to provide feedback on quarterly reports 


The American Society of Adaptation Professionals invites its members and organizations with experience in environmental justice and community advocacy to sign-up to provide technical assistance for communities impacted the most via the EPA Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (“TCTAC”) Program. The goal of the TCTAC Program is to remove institutional barriers and to improve accessibility to federal funding for disinvested communities impacted by decades of structural environmental injustice and are already doing essential environmental and energy justice work.


Social Sciences (an open access journal) is calling for manuscript submissions on Community-Engaged Research for Environmental Justice. (Deadline September 1)


The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to participate in a consensus study on the potential functions of a new center for paleoenvironmental records of extreme events. Experts will be drawn from diverse areas of paleoclimate and Earth system science, including geology, oceanography, cryospheric science, atmospheric science, paleobiology, and digital and physical repository curation. Nominations due September 13.
