Advisory Board nominations are opening soon! Reach out to us with questions about the role of the Advisory Board or the nomination and election process. Keep an eye out for more information to come.

We are seeking $4,000 in donations/sponsorships to cover the costs of SCDRP memberships for all participants in the first SCDRP Mentorship cohort. The SCDRP Mentorship Program is open to all active dues-paying members of SCDRP. Currently, not all Cohort #1 participants, many of whom are students and job-seekers, have an active membership or are able to obtain one at this time. Equity is one of SCDRP's core values, and we firmly believe in our responsibility as an organization to remove barriers that prevent diverse and inclusive participation in the fight for coastal resilience. Your donations will ensure that the Mentorship Program is open to all who are striving for professional growth and personal development, in line with our vision of a more equitable future for the field of resilience. | | |
Do you have a question or a request for information, resources, or connections that you’d like to send out to SCDRP’s wide network of disaster resiliency and climate professionals? Email us at scdrp@secoora.org with your request and contact information, and it may be featured in our next newsletter!

The Evolution of Florida's Public-Private Approach To Property Insurance
The Environmental Defense Fund recently released a report with an overview of Florida's risk profile and the implications for the private insurance sector, explaining the challenges with insuring disaster risks. Florida's insurance market is unique. It has fewer national insurers and more regional firms than other states. The state faces ongoing challenges in balancing risk reduction, affordability, and financial stability.
Coastal Flood Resilience Project White paper
The Coastal Flood Resilience Project is a coalition that works for stronger programs to prepare for coastal storm flooding and rising sea levels. This white paper recommends that the federal government take steps to strengthen assessments of flood risks from tropical storms and hurricanes on the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts.
