Annual Meeting of St Francis Parish

All members of the parish are voting members at our annual meeting in which we receive reports, vote on four new Vestry members, vote on delegates and alternates to the Diocesan Convention and hear presentations including the operating budget as approved by the Vestry. The annual meeting is a privilege and a blessing as we share together in the mission and ministry of Jesus.

Annual Meeting Potluck 
Show off your culinary talents and share your special dish with fellow parishioners! Or pick up your favorite foods to share from your local restaurant, deli or grocery store! It is time for our Annual Meeting Potluck on Sunday, January 27th after the 10am service. Please bring your items to the parish hall and, if you need your serving items returned, be sure to clearly label them with your name. As a guide, if your last name starts with A - H please bring a salad/side dish, I - R please bring a main dish and S - Z please bring a dessert. Remembering Parishioner Anne Shepherd

The funeral of long-time parishioner Anne Shepherd will be Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in our Chapel.
We pray to you for Anne, and for all those whom we love, but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them.
Confirmations at St Francis

Bishop John H, Taylor will celebrate Eucharist and administer the sacrament of Confirmation here at St Francis. Please contact Paula+, to find out much more about Confirmation, both for adults and young people. Please also speak to her if you would like to know about renewal of Baptismal vows and/or being received into the Episcopal church from another denomination.

Invitation - "Finding Our Connections Across Cultures"
January 26, from 9 am to 12 pm.
Rev. Peter invites all to attend the Gathering (Diocesan Ministry to Asian Americans) and St. John's Cathedral. This is one of the ministries Peter+ is involved with in the Diocese, and this event will help explore various dimensions of cross-cultural interactions for ministry and may be a good way for us to explore connecting to the diverse cultures in our community. Last Chance - Art And Wine Auction Item!!
Fellow parishioners, one of the auction items from the St. Francis Art and Wine event can still be bid on. Jill and Kelly Lynch have graciously opened up their beautiful home for a party on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 5:30 pm . This party is a highlight of the New Year and should not be missed. For $50 there will be wine and non-alcoholic beverages, heavy appetizers, a starlight ocean view, and amazing fellowship. We so hope you would like to participate in the this fun event. Checks can be made out to St. Francis with Art and Wine in the memo. Can’t wait to spend time with you!  Jennifer and Alex Sams
Men's Corner: Connecting With Other Men At St. Francis
Wednesday, January 30th , 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Rev. Peter and Canon Hank Gatlin host this monthly fellowship time for men. Come connect with other men at St. Francis, join in each other's spiritual journey over a meal or cup of coffee. Let us know if you can join us—or just stop by!
Volunteer At Harbor Interfaith
Thursday, February 7, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Join St. Francis volunteers in the food pantry at Harbor Interfaith in San Pedro every 1 st Thursday. Help bag and stock groceries for the working poor and homeless which Harbor Interfaith helps to help themselves. The opportunity to help this impactful organization is a great opportunity and a blessing. If interested, please contact Hank, or sign up in the church office. Thanks and Godspeed!
Harbor Interfaith is also in need of toiletries, especially toothpaste/brushes, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap/gel, deodorant, and razors & shaving cream. Please place items in the baskets in the narthex & church office. Thank you in advance for your generosity. 
St Teresa's Chinese New Year Event
Saturday February 2, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Food, wine, Chinese dancers and of course the Chinese white elephant auction. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Kids Under 4 are FREE!
Two Public Musical Events Coming Soon To St Francis
On Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. we will host the Musical Mosaic, a fund-raising concert for Mu Phi Epsilon ( a local music fraternity). Funds support music in public schools. Performers will include a 16-member cello ensemble, two sisters that are a flute and harp duo, a brass quintet, an electric violinist, the Peninsula High School Choir, and our own organ played by L J Clark. Tickets available in the office. $25/adults, $10 for Middle School and High School, Elementary children are free.

Then on Monday, February 18 (President's Day) at 9:00 in the morning. Long Beach Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will make St Francis the first venue for their Organ Festival, which will visit four churches that day. There will be donuts and coffee at 9:00, then our own Hyunju will play from 9:30 until 10:15. We will have a guest organist (Thomas Joyce, from Santa Barbara) . Free, and open to the public. We are happy to be known as a church that supports music!
Designs For Dining Silent Auction
Gourmet gadgets, silver knick-knacks, crystal dishes, gift cards you won’t use? Do you have any of these items, or similar treasures, sitting around your house collecting dust? Well, you can support the St. Francis Outreach Scholarship Fund by donating your items to the upcoming Designs for Dining silent auction! Donations from our parishioners have been some of our most popular auction items bringing in hundreds of dollars for our scholarship recipients! Please email or call Mary Deley - 424-212-9958. Items may be brought to the church office no later than February 22, 2019. Thank you!
