Walter (Walt) Bohn, Jr.
I am a cradle Episcopalian and have been a member of St. Andrew’s since 1981. My wife, Mary, and I were married here in 1989 and our two youngest grandchildren were baptized here. We attend the 8 a.m. service.

I have served on the Vestry, helped with the Flower Festival and Pancake Supper and been a member of the Men’s Club.
I am a retired electrician and served six years in the Navy as a submariner. I enjoy gardening and sharing my produce with friends and neighbors. Mary and I enjoy traveling, time with family and visiting with friends in our travels.

I would like to be considered for membership on the Mission Leadership Team at St. Andrew's which will be elected at the annual meeting on January 20, 2019.

My wife, Marianne, and I began regularly attending St. Andrew's in June, 2017, and we became official members of the parish on the Feast of All Saint's in 2017. Prior to this, we had been members of Faith Lutheran Church in O'Fallon (1984-98) and Our Lord's Lutheran Church in Maryville (1998-2017).

At Faith, I served on the stewardship committee for two years and an internship committee for one year. At Our Lord's, I served on the Worship and Music Committee for about 10 years and was co-chair for several years. In August, 2017, I retired from a 33 year career as a librarian. The last 28 of those years were spent at Washington University where, among other responsibilities, I was coordinator of reference services for Olin Library.

I would consider it a privilege to serve the parish of St. Andrew's as a member of the Mission Leadership Team.

I feel very blessed to be considered for the Mission Leadership Team of St. Andrew’s, Edwardsville. When I served on Vestry in 2014-2017, I felt not only a great responsibility to the parish, but also believed that it was a wonderful opportunity to use my skills for the parish.

My experiences here at St. Andrew’s have been the following:
  • Vestry (2014-2017 pre MLT)
  • Synod Representative (several times)
  • Altar Guild
  • Chancel party participant
  • Licensed Eucharistic Minister
  • Search Committee member
  • Pastoral Care Ministry member
  • Prayer Group member/leader

In the Diocese of Springfield, I currently serve on the Diocesan Finance Committee. I was also one of the six Deputies to the 2018 General Convention in Austin, Texas.

If elected to the Mission Leadership Team, I promise to do my best for the parish. I will be present for all meetings, either in person or by telephone when I am away – just as I did in 2014-2017. I also will consider what is best for the whole parish when making decisions.

Thank you,
Sharon K. Hoffman
Andrew (Andy) Mills
I am a cradle Episcopalian and was born in Austin, Texas a long time ago. I was baptized, confirmed and married in the Episcopal Church. I married Karen Mills in St. Andrew's Church.

I have been an 8 o'clock member of St. Andrew's Church for almost thirty years. I like to network and get consensus to achieve goals. I was on the committee to fix our stained glass windows, which look pretty good.

I have had my doubts like Thomas but had an epiphany. I have seen the light of God's Love. I am a member of the Wings of Hope. This organization helps people by doing humanitarian services using airplanes.  I have given airplane rides for the Young Eagles program through Experimental Airplane Association.

I have worked with computers for over thirty years. I have programmed and built networks.  I currently teach at the Edwardsville school district.

I have felt the vision of God's Word.

I look forward to meeting each and every one at St. Andrew's.

I have lived in the St. Louis Metro East area since 1982 (37 years). I have regularly attended St. Andrew’s 8 a.m. service for over 20 years. I rarely miss.

I helped with different things at church over the years – contributions to the Angel Tree project, assisted with the Pancake Supper, and provided help with repairs. I am running for election as I would like to help the parish at this time.

I have been married to my wife Margie for 50 years and we have two grown children, ages 43 and 45, as well as four grandchildren. I retired from Boeing in 2007 where I worked as an Industrial Engineer. I graduated from SIUC in 1968 with a degree in finance. I was born in Brooklyn, New York then moved to Long Island at age two. When I was 20, I came to Illinois to attend SIUC.

Now that I am retired, I enjoy running projects for the Homeowners’ Association for our subdivision. One of the biggest ones I was involved in was when we dredged our lake. In my spare time I also work on the restoration of old trucks like a Model A Ford pickup and a 1953 Ford pickup. I have a workshop and have enjoyed building some furniture for my family.

Margie and I have traveled to Hawaii for the last ten years. We find the warm weather is good for our joints!

I have been an active church member all of my adult life, having taught kindergarten in Church School at five different churches—two in Texas and three in Illinois—over a 50-year span. At St. Andrew’s I have been a kindergarten teacher, Church School superintendent, ECW president, ECW secretary, Vestry clerk, Church secretary, Shield editor, Gift Shop manager and member of many committees. I worked with the Patronal Feast, Mayfest and many rummage sales. I know that sometimes I am too mouthy but am quite willing to laugh at myself or with friends when they tell me I have goofed.

Augie and I have been married for 35 years. We have a blended family of six children (five sons and one daughter). Now, we enjoy our ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren (one more due in March). Time spent with them is terrific.

I like to quilt. It is very relaxing, but I have not gotten to do much of it since grandchildren time. I have refinished rocking chairs and like to do caning (cane bottom a chair, weaving and 7-step). Some of my latest endeavors have been to take a beginner’s class in blacksmithing, and I have learned how to make metal roses.

My introduction to the Episcopal Church was at St. Paul’s Alton. I made my way to Edwardsville by way of Alton, Illinois; Mineral Wells, Texas; and Irving, Texas. Then, it was back to the Alton/ Wood River area. St. Andrew’s has some wonderful families and I have some super friends. New projects, new beginnings and new ideas seem to pop up at St. Andrews as new seedlings pop up in a flowerbed. What fun it is to be part of the church activity!

We have a very special faith community at St. Andrew’s. I am excited that we have a new Rector and am eager to be involved in the next chapter of our parish life, using the knowledge I have gained over the last 20 years as a parish volunteer and the skills I have developed in my professional, parish, and community volunteer work.

I have attended St. Andrew’s since 1998 and enjoyed getting to know the members of our church family, young and old, and look forward to serving all members if I am elected to the MLT.
