Information & updates about the Foundation and its programs
The French-American Foundation invites you to its annual Women of the Foundation Event around International Women’s Day.

This virtual event on women's leadership will feature guest speaker Colleen Ammerman, who will discuss her new book, Glass Half-Broken: Shattering the Barriers That Still Hold Women Back at Work.

Why the gender gap persists and how we can close it.
Women have made up roughly half of the college-educated workforce for years, and before the onset of the economic crisis of 2020, the gap between the percentage of women and the percentage of men in the labor force was the lowest on record. But women remain underrepresented in positions of power and status. The gender pay gap, for example, shows little movement, largely because high-paying jobs are the most gender-imbalanced. Even in areas where there are roughly equal numbers of men and women, or where women actually make up the majority, leadership ranks remain male-dominated. Read more.

Thursday, March 4 at 1:00 pm ET

This women event is open to everyone. We want to highlight that the space we intend to create is one in which women are able to feel open, and to speak and engage fully with each other. We warmly invite those who do not identify as women to also contribute, listen and observe, while leaving space for the women present to feel empowered and safe.

You do not need a Zoom account to join. Registered guests will receive a link to join in the days leading up to the event. You can find the full list of descriptions and recordings of our webinars on our website.

40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAM
We will showcase the many achievements of our alumni throughout 2021, which marks the 40th anniversary of the Young Leaders program.

Tune into an in-depth discussion between Former US Secretary, Senator, and First Lady, Hillary Clinton, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Both Young Leaders from the classes of 1983 and 1998, Clinton ('83) welcomes Blinken ('98) to her podcast, "You and Me Both with Hillary Clinton," to discuss his priorities for the coming months—from the refugee and climate crises to the US relationship with Russia and China. He and Clinton also swap advice, memories, and a few funny stories from their years of service.

Secretary Clinton: [...] So let me ask you, what have your first few weeks as Secretary of State looked like and felt like to you?

Secretary BlinkenWell, you know this better than anyone. It’s a little bit like jumping onto a treadmill that’s already moving at 10 miles an hour, and partly it’s just trying to hold on. But you know – obviously, because of COVID, it’s been a challenge, and there’s a little bit of frustration that comes with that. I remember so well when you became secretary, you were off almost immediately on that airplane visiting with, working with, engaging with our allies and partners and others around the world. I wish I could do the same thing, but we’re grounded. [...]
