You are invited to a Sale!

Join us for The Caring Place's 34th birthday on June 7th and 8th!  As always, we are celebrating in our stores.  Both
The Shops at The Caring Place and Second Helping will have surprise sales and drawings as we commemorate 34 years of caring in our community.  Help us continue the mission to provide for the basic human needs in our community by "Shopping for Good!"

Want to see how a local business has been "Shopping for Good" for years?  Scurlock Farms, a Georgetown vacation rental destination along the San Gabriel river, recently had The Caring Place out to see all the treasures they have found in our thrift stores.  Sheron, the owner, is a long time volunteer and supporter of The Caring Place and enthusiastically shares how "shopping for good" makes her properties cozy and inviting.  Watch the video for a tour!

Stamp Out Hunger Results!

Thanks to everyone who participated and the letter carriers in our community, we received 13,316 pounds of food during the Stamp out Hunger Food Drive in May!  That's a big deal! This is a great start to a busy summer!  Thank you for participating. And, thank your letter carrier, too!

Our Food Pantry Needs in June

These devoted Farmers Insurance volunteers recently volunteered at our Fresh Food for Families event and found heart-shaped potatoes!  Want more information on group volunteering?

What is "Eating for Good?"

A new way to help this summer:  This summer, in order to increase donations to our Food Pantry, we have launched, "Eating for Good!"  Simply visit our website at www.caringplacetx.org/eatingforgood
and look for the restaurants you can go to eat on certain days and times. Those locations will be donating a portion of the proceeds back to The Caring Place!  Please note some events require a flyer and mentioning of The Caring Place, so please visit our website for more information and to check for new additions!

  • Did you know we have a full-time retail position open?  We are looking for smiling faces in our store!   Find open positions here.

  • If you're a teacher, don't forget about thrift shopping this summer.  Kim, one of our volunteers, is a teacher and last summer gave us a few tips on how thrift shopping has made her classroom special.  Find the blog post here.

  • For those individuals needing a fan for the summer, the Family Eldercare Fan drive is back.  Fan distribution at The Caring Place will begin June 3.  See the flyer to the left for details, or find a downloadable flyer in English and Spanish on our website here: www.caringplacetx.org/gethelp

  • Interested in a Quarterly Snapshot of what's happening at The Caring Place and how you can help?  You can even print it and share it!  Here it is:  TCP Quarterly Snapshot 2019 Q2
Here we have another great idea from a volunteer, Sheron Scurlock, owner of Scurlock Farms.  Sheron has showed us this year how she's furnished the majority of her vacation rental from The Caring Place, but even some of the decor inside was handcrafted from odds and ends at The Caring Place.  The Caring Place thrift stores are always a great place to start when you are looking for a creative project to work on.

Where You Shop Matters...
When our shops don't have what you need, try our eBay store, or make your purchases using Amazon Smile, just select The Caring Place!
Occasionally, we find some treasures that sell better in an ebay store.  Shop there too and know your purchases still support The Caring Place!

Love shopping on Amazon?  Use Amazon Smile and, at no additional cost to you, donations are made to The Caring Place.  Just choose The Caring Place as your non-profit
choice.
