Dear Friends,
We’re excited to share the many things that are happening at The Caring Place with you this month!
Read on in the newsletter and you will learn more about:
- A new service The Caring Place is offering;
- Construction to enclose the Donations Warehouse;
- How construction will impact hours for Fresh Food For Families and the Donations drive-through;
- A new “Bargain Bin” section in The Shops at The Caring Place;
- Our “Back-to-School” voucher program begins next week;
- A recap of our successful Staff Development Day;
- New hours for our Fresh Food For Families: 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
In addition, we were notified that we received another 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, an honor that The Caring Place has received every year since 2014. It is their highest rating and indicates that The Caring Place “adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.” In that vein, last week our entire staff team spent a rare professional day together where we learned new skills, shared information, and worked on team-building to better serve our community.
We deeply appreciate your continued support which allows us to accomplish our mission to provide for the basic human needs of all people in our community in a welcoming, respectful and caring way.
Gratefully,
Ginna O'Connor
Executive Director

We're Making Room for Caring!
We're thrilled to announce a new service of The Caring Place! Laundry Love Georgetown has transitioned its vital program to us, so our services will now include free laundry washing and drying for families in need.
This new program, aptly named "Loads of Caring," officially launches today, August 1st. We're committed to minimizing disruptions for Laundry Love Georgetown's dedicated volunteers, patrons, and donors. Many aspects of the service will remain the same, including free laundry access on the second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month at the Georgetown Washatopia (1910 South Austin Avenue).
“We are honored that Leslie Hearne is entrusting this impactful and well-run program she’s built to The Caring Place,” says Erin Becnel, Programs and Services Director at The Caring Place. “Laundry Love perfectly complements our mission of providing basic needs to our neighbors. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition by continuing to use Leslie’s model for the program's impactful service.”
Loads of Caring welcomes Laundry Love Georgetown's existing Host Teams and encourages new groups to join. To learn more about volunteering or getting involved, please visit The Caring Place website at CaringPlaceTX.org or contact Erin Becnel, Programs and Services Director, at ebecnel@caringplacetx.org.

Through your fabulous donations, we also raise money to help neighbors with rent, utilities, transportation and more when they have financial hardships.
Ensure you are bringing items that we can sell in our stores by utilizing our Donations Flyer. We have a flyer that includes the things we do not take due to safety or disposal costs and can be found at caringplacetx.org/donatemystuff.
Would you like to donate large pieces of furniture? We have a designated pick up service area to help you with those requests. Learn more about this designated area at caringplacetx.org/donatemystuff or call 512-943-0711 to request a pick up.
