Meet the Presenters

John Welden is the Commercial Relationship Manager for Truist Bank in Tallahassee. Over a 10+ year career with Truist, John has serviced commercial clients by identifying quality solutions tailored to their business and financial needs. He also acts as an advisor across varying stages of maturity of a company, from start-up to transition, through capital formation, payment solutions, risk management, and personal financial management.

Previously John led the portfolio and risk management process for the Commercial Real Estate Team in N. FL markets and the Commercial and Industrial portfolio for the Tallahassee market. As a portfolio manager in the Commercial Real Estate industry, John focused on new construction and renovation projects for commercial real estate developers.

He holds a BS degree in Finance/Marketing from FSU; he’s a member of Tallahassee Sunrise Rotary and serves as a Board Member for First Tee – Tallahassee.

John and his wife, Meg, have a 2-year-old daughter, Mary Miller, and a brand-new baby boy, William.

Chris Mills became Truist Bank’s Market President for the Tallahassee region in 2019. He has a combined 20+ years of consumer, commercial, and corporate banking experience.

Prior to 2019, Chris was a Commercial Banking Advisor for SunTrust, serving the Florida Panhandle, South Georgia, and South Alabama. Prior to that, he was the Senior Commercial Leader for Regions Bank in the Tallahassee Area.

Chris is Certified in Risk Management & Lending, with a BS degree in Business Administration/Finance from UWF; he is also a graduate of multiple Dale Carnegie Leadership curriculums. He is on the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Board, a member of the Rotary Club of Tallahassee, and a Class 34 Graduate of Leadership Tallahassee.

Chris and his wife, Melinda, have 3 children, Christopher (19), Lexie (14), and Hazel Grace (6).
