Fall Into Giving Returns This October | October is a time to give all month long here at AVC! Beginning October 1, you will have an additional opportunity to directly support education and student success by donating to our newest campaign! During this special month, we will feature a student each week to share their story of success and triumph and the difference AVC made for them. | Fall into Giving, the rebranded fundraising initiative that replaced Giving Tuesday in November, is in its second year and provides an opportunity for all to make a difference in the college district and community. The AVC Foundation's goal is to direct proceeds to programs that mean the most to our donors, while making a big impact on students. | Donors may designate their donations to any campus program, scholarship or endowment. Simply click on the Donate button below to get started and write in where you would like your donation to go. Consider a monthly or annually recurring payment. Together, we can make a difference. | | Gaining Traction at AVC:
Marauders Racing Club Makes An Impact | | The Marauders Racing Club began with a simple idea: give students the opportunity to turn their passion for racing and automotive technology into something real. Founded in 2023, the club brings students together to design, build, test, and improve race vehicles while discovering what they are capable of achieving. | | "For our students, this is about far more than building a race car. It is about learning by doing — solving problems, working as a team, developing leadership skills, and gaining hands-on experience with the tools and technology used in today’s automotive and engineering industries," said Tim Sturm, the club's advisor and Auto Body professor. | | Donations made specifically to Marauders Racing help provide the parts, materials, tools, safety equipment, competition fees, transportation, and other essentials needed to turn classroom learning into real-world experience. This support helps ensure that financial limitations do not prevent a student from participating. | ON YOUR MARK - Marauders Racing Club Advisor Tim Sturm at the Kevin Harvick Kern Raceway. | The Marauders Racing Club's first test day at Kevin Harvick Kern Raceway gave Antelope Valley College students an opportunity to apply classroom skills in a professional racing environment while building industry connections that have already led to a career opportunity for one student. | On May 15, four members of the Marauders Racing Club traveled to Kevin Harvick Kern Raceway in Bakersfield for the club's first on-track test day. Students worked alongside veteran racer Gene Fife, who brings more than 50 years of racing experience and multiple championships to the sport. | Throughout the day, students experienced the responsibilities of supporting a race team during a live test session. They prepared the race car for testing, adjusted tire pressures and tire sizes to improve handling, assisted with fueling and driver safety preparations, and solved problems as conditions throughout the day in the pit area. The experience also reinforced the communication and teamwork required to keep a race team operating efficiently. | | A Legacy of Learning:
Honoring a Beloved Math Professor | Dr. Magdalena Caproiu was a Math Learning Specialist, professor of mathematics, lifelong learner, and mentor. She began her teaching career in 1951, and taught at Antelope Valley College for many years. She received the Scholar in Residence Award at AVC for academic year 2006-07, along with other countless awards and honors. | | Magdalena dedicated her career to encouraging and helping students work their way through math courses and cross the finish line to graduation. She knew that math could be a significant barrier for community college students, but she also knew that with patience, dedication, and someone who believed in them, students could overcome that barrier. | | Magdalena is no longer with us, but her belief in students can continue through her scholarship -- the Dr. Magdalena Caproiu Scholarship of Excellence. With your support, we can reach our goal and award a scholarship - or potentially even two - to AVC students this coming year. $5. $10. $25. Every donation matters. Completion of New Building Scheduled for 2027
The Commons is the last project from the AV Measure Bond in 2016. The building is located just west of the Student Services Building. It will house the cafeteria, meeting and study space, student services, and banquet facility. Projected completion is March 2027.

The Antelope Valley College Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation.
All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Tax letters are sent to donors at the end of January each year.

An endowment is established with a minimum of a $10,000 gift to the Foundation by a donor for either a scholarship or other student and/or college support. This initial gift stays in perpetuity and the interest generated is used to support the donor’s request.
