As we continue to navigate through the changing seasons, we wanted to take a moment to provide you with some updates on the happenings around campus. In this edition of our newsletter, we will share with you the latest developments within the college and highlight some of the upcoming events, projects, and campaigns that we are excited about.

Welcome to the Foundation,
Samantha MacConnell!
|
|
The Foundation would like to introduce and extend a warm welcome to the new Administrative Assistant, Samantha MacConnell. Samantha is a longtime Lancaster resident and has worked in education for nearly a decade. She comes to the Foundation from AVC’s Language & Communication Arts Division, where she served as Clerical Assistant III for just under three years, assisting students, faculty, and staff. She previously worked in the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District for seven years in various secretarial capacities, serving elementary and middle school students, teachers, and parents. Samantha graduated from Antelope Valley College and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (B.S. in Journalism), and hopes to continue her educational journey by earning her master’s degree soon. She is passionate and committed to helping others and hopes to make a difference at the Foundation, AVC, and in the community. She is excited to continue her journey at AVC and expand her knowledge and collegial relationships. Samantha’s pride and joy are her two kids, Noah and Madeline, and watching them play soccer on various local teams. |

7th Annual Wine Walk Fundraiser

We are excited to announce that tickets are now on sale for our upcoming Wine Walk Fundraiser on Saturday, April 27th at 5:30 - 8 p.m. This is an event you won't want to miss!
Join us for an evening of wine tastings from various wineries, local draft beer, non-alcoholic wines, delicious food, a wine pull, and a silent auction. It's a perfect opportunity to indulge your senses while supporting a great cause.
Ticket Pricing:
- Early Bird (before April 24): $100 per ticket
- Regular (on or after April 24): $125 per ticket
All proceeds from the event will go to the Community Students' Endowment, which funds programs that directly support student success.

Ways to directly help our students |

We are always in need of donors to provide scholarships to our students. Last year, of the students who applied, we were only able to award scholarships to nearly 40 percent of them.
If you are interested in establishing a scholarship or contributing to an existing scholarship, please contact Emily Moulton at 661-722-6300, ext. 6996 or [email protected].

An endowment is established with a minimum of a $10,000 gift to the Foundation by a donor for either a scholarship or other student and/or college support. This initial gift stays in perpetuity and the interest generated is used to support the donor’s request.

Measure AV Construction Updates |
|
|
|
Cedar Hall is a three-story 65,000 square foot state of the art building that will house classrooms and faculty offices. A theater-style lecture classroom will also be used as the Board of Trustees' meeting room.
Status: In process and scheduled to be completed the end of March 2025.
|
|
|
|
The 47,353-square-foot facility will be the campus core for student life and college activities. The Commons will include a full kitchen and dining facility, a college store, indoor and outdoor spaces for large gatherings, and a student life center that supports student interaction, support, and clubs as well as the student government offices.
Status: The project is in the preliminary stages with an estimated construction start date of Summer 2024.

Sage Hall provides instructional space for individual and group instruction, and tutoring with a flexible and interactive learning environment that replaced the previous Learning Center facility.
Status: Complete

|
|
Existing and new modular buildings provide a complex at Marauder Stadium for team locker rooms, restrooms, training space, equipment, laundry, meeting rooms, and offices. Seven modular buildings provide 22,500 square feet of usable space.
Status: Complete

|
A permanent facility for Campus Security to provide more effective services and communications to the campus. The facility is a single-story 5,660 sq. ft. building with gated parking for security vehicles.
Status: Complete.

|
The Discovery Lab is a 35,466 square foot technical education facility that supports the relocation and expansion of the welding, fire technology, and electronics programs. New programs including Advanced Manufacturing and Avionics are housed in this state-of-the-art facility.

Student Services Building |
The new main campus entry at Avenue J-12 and 30th Street West leads to the College's impressive front door, a two-story Student Services building that provides 58,000 square feet of space for enrollment, counseling, financial aid, health, and veterans services.
