For Immediate Release
ANTHONY F. DEFILLIPO ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR MAYOR OF NORTH MIAMI BEACH
Pledges to make our community safer, lower our taxes and invest in North Miami Beach's infrastructure

"Proven Leadership When Our City Needs It the Most"
NORTH MIAMI BEACH – Anthony F. DeFillipo, resident and Commissioner of North Miami Beach, and Property Management Director at Decorus Realty, declared his candidacy for Mayor of North Miami Beach.

DeFillipo’s goal is to bring progress and good government to North Miami Beach, making it "a destination" and not just "a drive-through city anymore."

As Commissioner, DeFillipo has been working hard to make our community safer by reassuring that the city recruits and retains stellar police officers and providing them with the best available tools and resources. DeFillipo's main objective is to continue to make improvements in the North Miami Beach infrastructure and its water plant to achieve best in class quality providing water resources currently to over 180,000 users.

DeFillipo continues to fight to lower taxes by reducing the millage rate, as he has proven over the last three years.

He will encourage the implementation of the Parks Master Plan to make the city's parks and sports fields the best recreational facilities for North Miami Beach's residents.

Under DeFillipo's leadership the city's Fitch Ratings improved from AA- to A+, thanks to a sustained improvement in North Miami Beach's financial profile, among other factors.

DeFillipo has been honored 3 years in a row by the Florida League of Cities as a home rule hero in the City of North Miami Beach.

DeFillipo has always supported the North Miami Beach police department by making sure they have the proper state of the art equipment and new vehicles to serve and protect our community. Additionally, he has worked to increase the number of officers from approximately 77 in 2013 when he was first elected as commissioner to over 110 officers now. He has always been an advocate of having officers present in our schools to safe guard our children.

DeFillipo was the proponent in 2013 of bringing back the NMB Cityline newspaper, which had stopped circulation for 4 years. This communication newsletter keeps our community informed and involved in all our city events.

DeFillipo helped make the Bike305 initiative a reality in the city, which formally recognized North Miami Beach as the Bike305 Municipality of the Year. Bike305 was formed to help make cycling safer, create trails, connect cities and an attractive transportation alternative within Miami-Dade County.

As Commissioner, DeFillipo has helped North Miami Beach expand its tax base, securing its continued financial success.
