The Anthony Wayne Area Council is committed to helping all programs and units in Northeast Indiana deliver life-changing Scouting experiences to all of our youth. In order to best support your unit, the council works through staff members (District Executives) as well as outstanding district volunteer committees and commissioner staff.
As of July 1, 2020, Anthony Wayne Area Council will shift from a five district structure to one that consists of four districts as shown on the attached map and information below:
Summit District
Central area district that includes all units inside of the Route 469/69 loop in Allen County, which also includes all units that are in our Scoutreach programs. District will be serviced by District Executive Phil Ferguson, (260) 409-4323,
Phillip.Ferguson@Scouting.org
.
Pokagon District
Northern area district that includes all units from Pokagon District plus the part of Allen County that is north of Route 469. District will be serviced by District Executive Josh Jones-St. Clair, (260) 409-1590,
Joshua.JonesStClair@Scouting.org
.
Lincolnway District
Western area district that includes all units from Lincolnway District plus the part of Allen County west of Route 69 (largely Aboite Township). District will be serviced by Senior District Executive Mike Skeens, (260) 760-9175,
Michael.Skeens@Scouting.org
.
Wabash Valley District
Southern area district that includes all units from Wabash Valley District plus the part of Allen County south of Route 469. District will be serviced by Senior District Executive Steve Higgins, (260) 710-5637,
Steven.Higgins@Scouting.org
.
Many volunteers met and discussed our various redistricting options over the past months. The committee consisted of our District Chairs and District Commissioners, the Council VP of District Operations, the Council Commissioner and Scout Executive. After a great deal of discussion, this committee came to a consensus for this four-district structure that was subsequently approved by our Council Executive Committee and reviewed by our Council Board. In the near future, each of the four new districts will be holding Nominating Committee Meetings to confirm their slate of district officers.

Powderhorn Postponed
until 2021
|
|
For over 50 years, Camp Chief Little Turtle has operated with the mission to “promote character development through the values of Scouting with outdoor adventure, quality facilities, and engaging age-appropriate activities”. Needless to say, safety has always been, and will always be our #1 priority for our Scouts, Leaders, Guests, and Staff. With the current health & safety concerns surrounding the Covid-19 Pandemic, a task-force consisting of members of our Summer Camp Leadership Team, Council Leadership, Council Camping Committee and our Council Risk Management Committee; has made a difficult recommendation, which has now been approved by the Council Executive Committee, to suspend all council-led long-term camping and training programs through July 2020.
After careful consideration, the decision has been made to suspend the 2020 Powderhorn course scheduled for August 6-8 until the 2021 camping season. This decision was made based on feedback received professional medical advice, CDC guidelines, recommendations that pertain to only holding events for local communities to reduce potential spread of Covid-19, and out of an abundance of caution and concern that we would be unable to offer the quality programming that has been expected of us for over 50 years. We know this is disappointing news and we apologize for the short notice, but every effort was made to evaluate the most recent trends with the pandemic. The next course offering will be August 5-7, 2021.
All deposits and payments already received will be refunded to each participant as soon as possible. You will have the opportunity to secure your 2021 course reservation for Powderhorn at Camp Chief Little Turtle. Refunds can be processed several different ways; the first way is the entire amount paid can be transferred into a 2021 course reservation. Second, we can take a $50 reservation deposit for 2021 and refund the rest of the payment. The final option is to refund the whole amount. Cody Zimmerman will be available to help with all refunds and 2021 course reservation matters. He can be reached at Cody.Zimmerman@Scouting.org or 260-432-9593 or 260-710-5053.
Our Refund policy can be found at CCLTBSA.org on the home page. Thank-you for your continued support of Scouting in Northeast Indiana and Camp Chief Little Turtle!
Yours in Scouting,
Chuck Walker
Assistant Scout Executive

Continue The Promise Campaign
|
|
The Zeiger Service Award was to debut during the 2020 Resident Camp season to “recognize volunteer leaders that go above and beyond to carry out the mission of Camp Chief Little Turtle”.
Recognition would be limited each season to those who met a series of service requirements while at CCLT during resident camp. Recipients would be recognized at the closing campfire with the current year camp patch with a special gold border. Only 150 of these patches would be made and any unearned patches would be destroyed thus making them even more special.
With expenses already incurred for this summer season and the loss of significant revenue that helps offset the fixed costs of year-round camp operations, there is great concern for how we will be able to operate moving forward.
In the same spirit that the Zeiger Service Award was created, we would like to make available these limited-edition 2020 patches so that we can help ensure our ability to Deliver the Promise of Scouting into the future.
This patch will be made available to the first 150 donors of $100 or more. Each patch is numbered and will be issued in the order that requests are received. A generous donor has agreed to pay for the shipping of these patches directly to you.
As previously promised, any unsold patches will be destroyed, thus securing their uniqueness.
Regular 2020 Summer Camp Patches are also available and may be purchased for $5 per patch online and, hopefully, soon in our camp Trading Post.
Your support through the purchase of these patches will help with the following:
- Provide initial capital for alternative programming being developed for the 2020 season.
- Provide funding to cover fixed costs related to operating Anthony Wayne Scout Reservation.
- Cover expenses already incurred to operate summer resident camp.
Thank-you for your consideration in support of Scouting at Camp Chief Little Turtle!
