Shalom friends!

In this time when we, all across the country, are hunkering down, self-isolating, and staying in – it is important to recognize that we are not alone.

Right now, the Jewish Federation is focused on two agendas, ensuring that the most vulnerable in our community have what they need to survive and be safe, and providing opportunities for people within the Jewish community to feel connected in these disjointed times (i.e. the bottom layers of the pyramid in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs). This is why we are here and part of what we mean by CARING for our Jewish family in need.

If you or someone you know is in need, please email us at JFCS@ocjf.org .

The good news at this time is that there are more ways to connect online and through technology than ever, and you can maintain a very busy schedule by signing up for classes and programs, and marking your own calendars for when you wish to watch a specific show, do some exercise, or try some new recipes.

Some of these opportunities, curated just for our community in Ocean County, follow below the PSA on how to arrange for home delivery of food.

As always, stay safe and let us know if you have any suggestions!

PSA for the day:

While heading out to get food is one of the permitted activities during this Corona time, some people are nervous about going to the supermarket and mixing with other people – especially seniors, who may be more vulnerable. If you do go out, some stores have senior shopping hours, but overall it is best to go early in the morning when the stores open.

Better yet, there are a number local options to arrange for food delivery or pick up. This can be done easily through a web site…or in some cases by calling the store. Keep in mind that a number of stores are experiencing higher than usual volume and may take longer to deliver everything – but, with a little planning, you can order all you need from the comfort of your home.

Plus – Passover is almost here. Getting online and ordering stuff now is a great way to get a head start! If you have challenges doing this, or have other food concerns, please email us at JFCS@ocjf.org.
