July 2019 Milstein Family Foundation Newsletter
Dear Friends,

As antisemitism increasingly becomes mainstream, those of us who want to do something proactively, should do it now - before it's too late.

In this month’s newsletter you can read Adam’s recent article about how the BDS is worse than antisemitism, how it promotes violence, how it radicalizes other hate groups, and how it resembles the Nazi movement.

We also invite you to learn about Stand By Me - an organization led by Gila which supports Israeli-American cancer patients and their families in Los Angeles. Please visit their website for more ways to get involved.

In addition, Adam shares his new vision for impact philanthropy to combat antisemitism: the multi-network collaboration model, or the 21st century Solomon’s Sling. He explains how philanthropists should work together to support effective non-profit organizations to influence policy makers, opinion leaders, and the public.

Finally, we are delighted to feature HonestReporting , an organization that monitors the news for bias, inaccuracy, or other breach of journalistic standards in coverage of the State of Israel. It also facilitates accurate reporting for foreign journalists covering the region. We are proud to support their work.

With sincere love and admiration for the State of Israel and the Jewish people,

Gila and Adam Milstein

P.S. Our foundation is seeking a talented professional to join our team in Los Angeles as a Program Manager. Please forward our newsletter to interested candidates or apply here
The Nazi-Like Boycott of Jews is a Global Menace
Abraham Lincoln once said, “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
BDS is much worse than antisemitism. Mounting evidence shows BDS is affiliated with terrorist organizations, it radicalizes all hate movements and promotes violence against Jews, alarmingly resembling the Nazi movement in WWII-era Europe.

Stand By Me
"With a warm heart and open arms, Stand By Me is the extended family in support of its brothers and sisters on their road to recovery."

-  President, Gila Milstein

Read the Spring '19 newsletter and see how Stand By Me impacted the community.
Stand by Me is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2009 in order to provide daily support to Israeli-American cancer patients and their families in Los Angeles.

The struggles of the families supported by Stand By Me are indescribable: having to face cancer while speaking a foreign language, understanding a different culture, dealing with financial hardship, and having little to no family around. Stand By Me steps into the picture, becomes an extended family and makes sure that “No one in our community faces cancer alone.”

Stand By Me provides personalized services to patients and their families together with a community of devoted volunteers who give love, hope and strength to fight the illness.

All of our services are provided in Hebrew and for free. Our services include:

  • Substantial Care: transportation to and from treatments, cleaning services, childcare, delivery of hot meals and Challahs on Fridays.

The 21st Century Solomon’s Sling: A New Vision for Impact Philanthropy to Combat Antisemitism
The 21 st  Century Solomon’s Sling—the philanthropic multi-network collaboration model—isn’t just a model for the Jewish or pro-Israel philanthropic world. It presents a vision that philanthropists should work together to support and empower all the effective and relevant non-profit organizations to influence policy makers, opinion leaders, and the public.

The impact is clear: create collaborating networks to defeat our detractors’ networks. We need the unique vision, knowledge, connections, and financial resources of many philanthropists to motivate and empower our networks. This is the most effective way to unite the pro-Israel community and fight anti-Semitism.

HonestReporting
The media can be a hostile environment filled with toxic misinformation about Israel.
HonestReporting makes a difference, on the ground and here in Israel.

For example: When The New York Times published a highly anti-Semitic cartoon, we responded with a petition. Then, a video on our YouTube channel reached over a million people, bringing over 10,000 signatures. Finally, we delivered the petition, in person, to the NYT headquarters.

Our MediaCentral program helps journalists on the ground find the stories that aren’t being told, while our social media and community training reach young people directly. The result? Constant corrections, retractions, improved stories, and millions of young viewers.

HonestReporting delivers.

Not only does The Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation provide critical financial support, but they really believe in us.

Thank you so much — your support means the world to us, and to our work for Israel.
