Amanda Rensch
Class of 2016
Amanda is a 2016 graduate of Antonian. Amanda’s favorite class at Antonian was Anatomy and Physiology taught by Ms. Stephanie Ramon. Amanda said “Ms. Ramon was an awesome teacher and the class sparked an interest in Neuroscience, that has guided my research in undergraduate and graduate school and my passion for working with patients who have language and cognitive disorders from head trauma and neurological disease."
Her most favorable moment at Antonian was twirling fire for the marching band at the Homecoming football game. Amanda said she practiced a lot for that game, and even got burned practicing, but she loved performing and entertaining the crowd.
Amanda knows a lot about training and performing in front of crowds. At the age of 3, Amanda watched the U.S. Olympics figure skating competition on television and told her mom she wanted to be a figure skater.
Her mom immediately enrolled her in lessons and the rest is history. She has trained and skated competitively ever since. She skated with the San Antonio Figure Skating Club during her high school years.
After skating for the University of Notre Dame for the last 4 years in her undergraduate studies, and serving as captain of the team her senior year, she will continue to skate collegiately in graduate school at Marquette University, where she is pursuing a Master's of Science in Speech Language Pathology.
Amanda was recently appointed among 22 other skaters from different colleges across the country to be a U.S. Collegiate Skating Ambassador for the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Along with the other ambassadors, she will be presenting and leading collegiate skating events, contributing to blogs, social media posts, the SKATING magazine, and other newsletters as she works to support and promote collegiate skating throughout the U.S.
Additionally, Amanda teaches figure skating group and private lessons at Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
