September is upon us! Time to use your brave! Group Therapy provides the next level of exposure that is ideal for helping children with social anxiety, selective mutism, or related anxieties. If you're considering Winter Adventure or Adventure Camp or looking for a way to maintain treatment gains, group therapy at ATSA is the ideal next step. See below for our upcoming groups this fall!
Practicing activities repeatedly and deliberately helps to increase confidence, increase habituation, and decrease avoidance. ATSA's Courage Club provides the scaffolding your child needs to reach the next step on their exposure ladder. Join us for Sept/Oct's Courage Club and Nov/Dec's Courage Club.
This group is perfect for peer socialization, addressing anxiety about eating in front of others, talking about school, anxiety about playing school recess games, and staying connected with peers from ATSA.
At ATSA, we work on each child's therapeutic goals 1:1 to prepare them for groups. We know that a child recovering from SM and/or social anxiety cannot start a group "cold." If they do, it is possible they will engage in their avoidant mutism behaviors. Inspired by ourlead-in sessions from Adventure Camp, we have developed the Come Play Therapy Group to provide children who are not advanced enough yet in their treatment to engage verbally in higher level groups, but are ready to move beyond 1:1 therapy.
Modeled after Adventure Campfield trips, Social Exposures Groups will help facilitate your child's treatment gains into the community setting among a group of peers. Ideal for those ready to move on from 1:1 Individual sessions to Group Community Exposures!
We provide evidence-based treatments for a range of anxiety disorders and related issues. Call 630-230-6505 or email info@advancedtherapeuticsolutions.org for more information.
