AMMS Community Member,
Once each year, the OCPS annual parent survey is released for all schools across the district. The 2023 survey came out this past Tuesday and is now open for all Apopka parents. This will be the first survey since my arrival as your new principal this past summer. If you have a student at Apopka this year, I would greatly appreciate your investing a few minutes to complete the short survey today. Link below:
While we never get to see the individual parent responses which are kept completely anonymous, we do receive the overall combined parent findings later in the spring. These are used in our school improvement planning. I realize that we all regularly receive various survey invites from many organizations depending upon where we shop, bank, or even use medical services. However, the 2023 parent survey pertains directly to the high quality of education we strive to offer our Seahawks. Therefore, if this applies to your household, kindly share your feedback today.
Have a wonderful Literacy Week!

What a way to start off our basketball season! Our girls' team was victorious over the defending county champions dominating and beating Robinswood 36-2. Science with Mrs. Benjamin-Walker (Thursday, Jan. 19)

When her students walked into class last Thursday, Mrs. Benjamin-Walker had the day's activities already planned out.

In a chemical change, a new substance is made, such as when you burn a candle. In a physical change, no new substance is made, like when water turns to ice.

Monday's Motivational Moment!
|
|
We have all heard the fable of the tortoise and the hare. The implied lesson, of course, is that the tortoise wins because he plods along and takes his time, whereas the hare rushes, becomes tired, and misses the opportunity to win. We're supposed to derive the meaning that we should all be tortoises—individuals who approach our goals steadily and slowly. If there was a third player in the fable who had the speed of the hare and the steadfastness of the tortoise, it would smoke them both and have no competition. The fable would then be called Smoked.
The suggestion today is that our Seahawks approach their 2023 goals like the tortoise and the the hare—by attacking them full-on from the beginning and staying with them throughout this 3rd quarter and beyond. Don't quit on your 2023 goals Seahawks. You have what it takes to succeed!
