Apopka Memorial Middle School Community Brief
Monday, May 8, 2023
AMMS Community Member,

Spring assessments continue this week and I thank all of our Apopka families for supporting their students with getting their rest and arriving on-time to school on testing days. On Monday we will have end of course exams for 7th grade Civics and 8th grade Science. Please also remember that we have our final "no early release Wednesday" of the year this coming May 10th. In this issue is the schedule for student laptop returns to include their peripheral devices. Please note that the return dates vary by grade level beginning with 8th grade on Monday, May 22.

This past Friday we recognized our wonderful Food Services team who work in the cafeteria every school day preparing and serving hundreds of meals. They perform an indirect, but critical role when it comes to academic achievement and we are fortunate to have such a quality team. If you see any of the Food Services staff in the cafeteria this week, kindly take a moment to thank them for all their hard work this school year.

Thank you for reading and thank you once again for your support with our students' exams this month.

Student Health and Safety
1) May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. See below for some facts about teen anxiety. How can you support your teen’s mental health?
2) Teens who rarely meet with friends:
Digital socializing has displaced in-person gatherings. The share of US teens who meet up in-person with friends less than once a month stood at 3 percent between 1990 and 2010, but reached 10 percent by 2019, meanwhile the share who say they are “constantly online” has now reached 46 percent.
