Apostle Islands Cruises, Inc. Will Offer The staff at Apostle Island Cruises, Inc. in Bayfield, Wisconsin will be welcoming a new addition to their island excursion fleet this June, the Superior Princess. Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett will be in Bayfield on June 19th for an official visit. She will take part in a christening ceremony for the Superior Princess at 3:00pm on the Bayfield City Dock. The ceremony will be followed by guided tours of the new cruise vessel.
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore has more lighthouses than any other National Park Service area featuring eight historic towers on six islands, and was named "One of the Ten Best National Park Destinations" in 2005 by National Geographic Traveler Magazine. The waters around Bayfield and the Apostle Islands are also the resting place to many maritime catastrophes, like the Lucerne and the Sevona. The Superior Princess was constructed in Wetumpka, Alabama by Bonner Boats. The boat has departed from its construction location and is en route on the 2,200 mile journey from Alabama to her new home in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
