Alongside Hope issues urgent appeal for partners hurt by aid cuts

In the wake of massive cuts to international development assistance by the U.S. Government and some European governments, Alongside Hope partners are reporting that progress is being undone, programs are being forced to shut down, and families and communities are living in uncertainty about their futures. 

Answering the call to protect our environment

The 16th Conference of the Parties (COP 16) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity was held in Cali, Colombia, in October 2024, bringing together stakeholders to discuss progress on the Kunming-Montreal commitments. The conference aimed to reverse nature loss by 2050 and protect 30% of the world's land and water by 2030. Alongside Hope Development Program Coordinator Jeanetthe Lara reports.

New program designed to support Indigenous youth mental health

Alongside Hope is partnering with Indigenous Ministries of the Anglican Church of Canada and the Diocese of Brandon to provide critical access to mental health training for Indigenous youth. Youth who have participated in Sacred Beginnings and other First Nations youth have shared with elders the need to identify and maintain good mental health practices.

The recent shutdown of most of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other funders has turned the international aid community on its head; deeply and negatively affecting people, communities and organizations around the world. Some of those impacted are Alongside Hope partners. Foreign aid is also under threat in Canada's federal election.  

You are invited to join Alongside Hope for a webinar about the impacts USAID cuts are having on our partners, what Alongside Hope is doing to respond, and what you can do to support our partners in this election season and beyond.

Earth Week is less than one month away! For the Love of Creation is marking Earth Week 2025 with Together for the Love of Creation. We invite your organization/faith community to be part of Earth Week and join with others across the country to engage in praying, learning, or acting for climate justice! This coming together for the love of Creation is a way to connect, grow, listen, inspire hope, and affect change.

Subscribe to the Lenten resource - Living into God's Dream

Weaving scripture, reflection and prayer together with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Anglican Marks of Mission, the Rev. Jonathan Rowe of the Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, offers a rich tapestry in this year's Alongside Hope Lenten resource. Titled “Living into God's Dream,” the resource also allows the reader to reflect on personal and corporate questions and learn more about Alongside Hope's partners.

Communion Forest education resource invites you to share your stories

In the third and final year of Alongside Hope's Creation Care: Climate Action Education Focus, we are examining the intersections of climate change and health; how planetary and ecosystem health directly affect human health. Learning Module 3.1 focuses on the Communion Forest initiative of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Tell us how your parish has engaged in Communion Forest activities!
