Dear IPAY friends,

The springtime for IPAY brings our annual Showcase Selection Committee Meeting, where we rigorously adjudicate the international applications for Showcases and Spotlights. We're proud to announce that we've received submissions from 11 different countries, representing a wide variety of work for young audiences!

As always, we've received a very competitive mix of applications from IPAY members and newcomers alike, but this year we're especially excited to share some application pool statistics with you!  To gain a little more insight about the applicants that will go to panel this year, please have a look at the 2020 Showcase Application Summary  below. Showcase Selection Committee will meet from June 17-19 in Philadelphia, PA for three full days of application review.

This time of year also brings about new resources and updates, such as the announcement of our Kindling focus at Showcase 2020, and the release of resources from our Kindling and SPARK presenters in 2019. Read on to find out more!

We want to take this opportunity to remind you of our IPAY Community Calendar. We created this tool to aggregate the amazing work that you, our members, are doing for young audiences in your individual communities! Starting in June, we will be highlighting a  Monthly Featured  Member Event, sourced from this calendar. Make sure you submit your events!

We hope you'll take this advantage of this tool, and continue to stay in touch with us throughout the year.

SPARK Pre-Conference

SPARK 2019 kicked off the Kindling focus by diving into what IMPACT means to us from an artistic and educational perspective.

Participants engaged with colleagues through a mix of keynote and panel presentation, open dialogue and round table discussion, and hands-on workshop.

"Planning for Impact"

Kindling 2019 began with a Keynote from Yvette Hardie, President of ASSITEJ, International Association for Theatre for Children and Young People, and 2019 winner of the prestigious Mickey Miners Award.

Her powerful presentation kicked off a robust program considering the complexities of IMPACT in our field.

Kindling Focus on IMPACT

We all strive to create impact in the experiences we produce or present. Exactly what kind of impact are we are looking for, and how will we know when it happens?

W ithin a larger creative ecosystem, how do we work together to realize our full potential for making meaningful, lasting impact?

Kindling 2020 Thematic Focus

Step right up! Step right up! Step right up!

Feast your eyes, minds and imaginations on the whirling, the twirling, the twisting, the daring and the disciplined. IPAY Kindling 2020 shines the spotlight on the centre ring with a focus on CIRCUS and DANCE for young audiences.

Deviate from the path o f traditional theatrical devices to explore the blurring of lines between performative styles and discover new points of intersection; new network and touring opportunities; and genre-specific creation processes. Flip your perception of narrative structures, education links and social impact value through circus and dance.

Accelerant: A Call for Kindling Proposals will be launched on May 30th

Kindling sessions combine curated, invited guest thought leaders, partner network sharing, artistic masterclass, kitchen table (long table) open dialogue, connections to productions being showcased as well as sessions proposed from member submissions. Later this month, we welcome you to submit your proposals for Kindling 2020, to be reviewed by a selection panel consisting on IPAY Staff and Board Members.
