Study Scholarship for Graduates of All Disciplines

Highly qualified final year undergraduate students may apply for the DAAD Study Scholarship for a full Master's degree program at a German university or for study at a German university as part of a postgraduate or Master's degree program completed in the home country.  Apply by
November 5th, 2018.

Research Grants

Research Grants are awarded to highly qualified candidates who have completed a Master's degree or in exceptional cases a Bachelor's degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research; those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs), or to individuals wishing to earn a doctoral degree in Germany.  Apply by November 5th, 2018.

Science Careers has teamed up with “Research in Germany” to offer an exciting job fair focused on career opportunities in Germany. Meet online with representatives of German universities and research and funding organisations on November 7th, 2018 and learn about positions for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, funding opportunities, and studying and research in Germany.   Register by November 5th, 2018 .

Art Exhibition at the German Consulate General
DAAD-sponsored artist Franziska Jyrch will showcase her first solo exhibition in North America at the German Consulate General starting on November 16th . SUPER SOFT SKILLS will include large-format paintings, small-scale sculptures, and in-situ settings that address the characteristics of the host’s space and the context of the exhibition. Is the academic calendar the same in Germany and North America?

No! The official semester dates are:
Winter Semester: 
October 1st — March 31st
Summer Semester: 
April 1st — September 30th

However, these days may vary from state to state and from institution to institution, which is why we recommend checking the website of the university you are interested in. Also make sure your start date aligns with our funding periods and application deadlines!
