EMGIP Bundestag Internship

EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program) offers internship opportunities for U.S. and Canadian students in the German parliament, the  Bundestag . The internships are two months long and student interests are matched with a suitable position. Apply by September 15th, 2019.

Study Scholarship in Architecture

US students who have gained a first university degree in the areas of Architecture, Interior Design, Monument Conservation, Urban Planning/Urban Development are eligible to apply for the Study Scholarship in Architecture to pursue a Master's degree in Germany. Apply by September 30th , 2019 .

Call for Project Proposals
RISE Worldwide

Calling all research groups, labs, and doctoral students interested in hosting a motivated and qualified student from Germany to assist with research and lab work for your proposed project. The students have academic training in the STEM fields and receive a DAAD scholarship to help cover expenses and travel costs.  Submit by October 15th, 2019 .

University Summer Course Grants

This program provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to four-week summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany.  Apply by December 1st.

Meet DAAD Young Ambassador Hannah Peter

Hannah Peter grew up in southern Ontario, Canada, and is currently attending Brock University. She is studying Women’s and Gender Studies with minors in Intercultural Studies and German. Her hobbies include reading, swimming and photography. She encourages anyone and everyone to go to Germany, explore its beautiful cities and nature, and meet its amazing and friendly people.

The German-American Steuben Parade 2019

The 62nd German-American Steuben Parade will be held on Saturday, September 21st in New York with food, celebrations, and parade alongside Central Park. It was founded in 1957 by German immigrants and German-Americans and named after Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, a Prussian-born General who served with General George Washington in the American Revolutionary War and contributed to its victory.

I would like to improve my German language skills. Does DAAD offer any language acquisition opportunities?

Yes! We have offer a University Summer Course Grant for students to spend several weeks over the summer developing their language skills in Germany. There are also several other opportunities to improve your language skills that can be found here .
Fun Fact
Did you know...

... that the Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most iconic attractions in Germany (and one of the most expensive building projects of that time) is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its groundbreaking ceremony. The Bavarian Palace Administration has recently rediscovered the cornerstone laid down by King Ludwig II, just in time to commemorate this anniversary.
