German Studies Research Grant

This specialized DAAD program offers research grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany.  Apply by  July 1st, 2019.

DAAD General Assembly Election
DAAD General Assembly Election Results

Earlier this week, DAAD's General Assembly elected a new executive board o f trustees. Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee, President of the Justus Liebig University Giessen and current Vice President of DAAD will take over from Prof. Dr. Margret Wintermantel, who after two terms in office did not run for reelection. Dr. Muriel Helbig, President of Luebeck University of Applied Sciences, was elected as the new Vice President.

Mee t DAAD Language Assistant Dominik Winkel

Dominik Winkel is currently a Language Assistant at the University of Washington. Dominik completed his Master's degree at the University of Bonn. Throughout this time, he volunteered as language instructor and advisor for teenage refugees in the city. He has worked in Chongqing (China) and Seattle (USA) as language instructor and project manager for the last two years. He will soon return to Bonn to continue his professional and academic pursuits .

At what stage in my academic career do I have to be in order to be eligible for the German Studies Research Grant?

Among the other requirements, applicants must meet one of the following academic level requirements: undergraduate student with at least junior (third-year) standing, graduate student, PhD student.

Did you know...

... that earlier this month, two soccer teams from southwestern Germany beat the record for the longest soccer match? They played a continuous 168-hour game that began on May 29th and ended on June 5th!
