Call for Applications
Study Scholarship in Architecture

US students who have gained a first university degree in the areas of Architecture, Interior Design, Monument Conservation, Urban Planning/Urban Development are eligible to apply for the Study Scholarship in Architecture to pursue a Master's degree in Germany. Apply by September 30th .

Call for Project Proposals
RISE Worldwide

Calling all research groups, labs, and doctoral students interested in hosting a motivated and qualified student from Germany to assist with research and lab work for your proposed project. The students have academic training in the STEM fields and receive a DAAD scholarship to help cover expenses and travel costs.  Submit by October 15th .  

Call for Applications
Study Scholarship for Graduates of All Disciplines

Highly qualified final year undergraduate students or eligible graduates may apply for the DAAD Study Scholarship for a full Master's degree program at a German university or for study at a German university as part of a postgraduate or Master's degree program completed in the home country.  Apply by
November 4th.

University Summer Course Grants

This program provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to four-week summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany.  Apply by December 1st.

Meet DAAD Alumnus Varol Kahveci

Varol Kahveci was born in Konya, Turkey - Rumi-lovers probably already know the area! He spent three years in Istanbul and one year in England to complete his Bachelor's in Western Languages and Literatures. After completing his Master's in Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College, he began working on his Ph.D. in the Department of Germanic Languages at Columbia University in New York.

Oktoberfest 2019

Oktoberfest 2019 officially kicks off in Munich today, September 21st, and ends on October 6th. Today's Oktoberfest is quite different from the 1810 celebration of Crown Price Ludwig's marriage to Princess Teresa of Sassonia-Hildburghausen, but still brings together crowds of people for days of beer, food, and fun!

Application Tip #105
What level of German language abilities do I need to apply for the University Summer Course Grant?

Applicants must be able to follow lectures and collaborate in teams. The required German language skills should be equivalent at least to level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages .

Fun Fact
Did you know...

... that in 2013, an Oktoberfest visitor from Italy lost his car after celebrating in Munich. He was reunited with his car five weeks later after a local Munich newspaper appealed to its readers on his behalf. Be sure to note your vehicle location before partaking in the festivities!
