DAAD Young Ambassadors Program

The DAAD Young Ambassadors Program is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and Master's students from North America who have recently studied or interned in Germany and are interested in promoting study in Germany at their home institutions.  Apply by April 15th, 2019.

German Studies Research Grant

This specialized DAAD program offers research grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany.  Apply by May 1st, 2019.

Short-Term Research Grants are awarded for 1-6 months to highly qualified candidates who have completed a Master’s degree or Diploma, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor’s degree, by the time they begin their grant supported research, or those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs).  Apply by May 1st, 2019.

Within the context of Wunderbar Together, a year-long festival that showcases the German-American partnership with events all around the USA, the German Embassy Washington is opening up its annual essay contest to students from Grades 3-12, with different topic questions according to grade level. Academic Freedom
Commemorating the German Constitution

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Germany's post-war constitution, the Grundgesetz , the ten largest German scientific organizations, including DAAD, are coming together for a campaign on academic freedom under the motto "Freiheit ist unser System. Gemeinsam für die Wissenschaft" (roughly translated to "Freedom is our framework. Together for science and scholarship").

Meet DAAD Young Ambassador Nam Nguyen

Nam Nguyen is a senior at Washington State University pursuing degrees in International Business and Marketing. He is the first and only student in WSU’s 129-year history to study abroad on all seven continents. He is a McNair Scholar, Carson Fellow, Frank Fellow, NUFP Fellow with NASPA and DAAD Young Ambassador. Nam was recently awarded the Region V Undergraduate Rising Star Award from NASPA and the Global Student Leadership Award from Diversity Abroad.
