Now Accepting Homeownership Applications!
Habitat’s path to homeownership is an important and in-depth process, requiring hard work, time, and dedication. This helps to ensure the long-term success of Habitat homeowners.

-
Income of $37,060 per year and up, depending on family size (or lower if you own land). See the income chart for details on our website.
- Demonstrate financial responsibility through credit references. (No outstanding collections or judgments)
- A willingness to partner with Habitat, by committing to a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity.
- A need for affordable housing. (You live in housing that is overcrowded, unaffordable, OR substandard)
Applications are accepted between May 1 through May 31, 2024. Applications must be received or postmarked by May 31 to be considered for Habitat’s homeownership program. Please allow 30 days for your application to be evaluated.

Our annual spring fundraiser in support of our homeownership and critical repair programs is underway.
Our five-home development is underway in Ashland, with homes 1,2, and 3 under construction. Chris and his son are excited to move into the first home later this spring. KeeKee and Heather are working on their sweat equity and homeownership classes and we hope to have their homes ready for move-in in late summer or early fall. Our critical repair program continues to grow and provide much-needed home repairs to homeowners in our community, many seniors are living on fixed incomes.
We need your financial support to continue to build and repair homes for our low-income community members. Please consider a contribution today so we can continue our mission of everyone having a decent place to live. Donate Now.

Recycling
Over the next six months, we will be collecting lots of aluminum to support a grant competition. For a Novelis Can competition, the Habitat affiliate that gathers the largest amount of aluminum will receive additional grant funds!
Drop off your metal in our bins outside our ReStore. Larger items can be taken to the back entrance between 9 am and 4 pm from Monday to Saturday. (7199 Stonewall Parkway in Mechanicsville).
Can huts are at every Hanover County Transfer Station, & the King William County Parks and Recreation Building.
Recycling helps build and repair homes locally, so start collecting your metal!

If you’ve been following us for a while then you won’t be surprised by the numbers in this article. It shows that in Virginia you’d need an annual household income of more than $174,000 to afford the American Dream. This is why programs like ours are necessary for the community to have affordable housing options. https://ow.ly/ivSg50Rmpjx | | | | |
