The Children's Trust Announces

* New or updated

Applications Opening for The Trust's Thrive By 5 Early Learning Quality Improvement System *

For our early care and education partners, applications will open on October 7 to become a part of the Children’s Trust Thrive By 5 Early Learning Quality Improvement System (QIS). Through Thrive by 5 QIS, early learning programs and educators will have access to comprehensive opportunities to improve and sustain high-quality early learning programs. To access more information about Thrive By 5 QIS benefits and supports for programs, including A$CEND and Families Forward CLICK HERE.

 

Licensed childcare programs that meet ALL the following criteria qualify to participate; those meeting some criteria may qualify, depending on available resources:

 

1. Serve 30 percent or more young children (under age 6) receiving a school readiness subsidy

2. Located in a high-poverty zip code

3. Serve infants and toddlers 

 

Applications must be submitted NO LATER than October 18. For detailed instructions on how to apply please find the step-by-step guide here.

Access ElevatEd Portal: New Online Learning Platform & Workforce Registry *

ElevatEd is an online learning platform and professional workforce registry dedicated to empowering early learning educators. ElevatEd supports professional growth with a variety of services, including expert-led courses, scholarships, financial awards, and career pathway options. In addition, this new system will house all Thrive by 5 provider-related tools, such as, entering monthly enrollment, viewing tier level, and creating a program staff roster.

It's officially the Youth Advisory Committee's (YAC) recruitment season in August and September.


What is the YAC?

The YAC is a youth development program available exclusively to Miami-Dade County high school students that allows participants to explore leadership, service and advocacy. The YAC also provides eye-opening community service opportunities. 


What are the benefits of joining the YAC?

9th through 12th grades are given the opportunity to:

  • Earn an abundance of community service hours.
  • Develop a service-learning project, with funds provided by The Children’s Trust.
  • Participate in local field trips to meet local community leaders and experience Miami-Dade communities.
  • Participate in a trip to the Capitol in Tallahassee during Florida Children’s Week to meet legislators and experience the political process.
  • Gain strong leadership and teamwork qualities that will last a lifetime.

The Lucy Project

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and we are highlighting The Lucy Project and their efforts in helping and advocating for children who struggle to read. Up to 66,800 students in Miami-Dade County likely have dyslexia, but fewer than a third have been diagnosed, which is why The Lucy Project has been committed to making literacy accessible to all children by offering free in-school programs and affordable out-of-school remediation with highly trained educators. Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator - $61,565.02 Annual

The Communications and Community Engagement (CE) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Communications with the general administration of communications projects, vendor agreements and purchase orders. Work performed by the Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator includes but is not limited to researching and obtaining bids for services or purchased goods, monitoring agreements and their terms of services, scopes of work and quality of final product, goods or service to ensure high level output. The incumbent has latitude to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding vendor and/or materials selection; and prepares reports for the department and executive management.


Accountant- $61,565.02 Annual

The Accountant is responsible for reviewing and critically analyzing financial information and provider/vendor documents and with an emphasis on maintaining quality internal control standards. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing, maintaining reviewing, and analyzing accounting records in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards.

GreenLight Fund Miami seeks an independent and highly organized Coordinator with a passion for serving children and families in Miami. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Therapist

Advocacy Network on Disabilities is seeking a compassionate and skilled Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Therapist to join its clinical team. The ideal candidate will have specialized training and experience in providing trauma-focused therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. The TF-CBT Therapist will be responsible for delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients who have experienced trauma, helping them to process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall mental health.


Training and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Licensed or license eligible as a Mental Health Professional in the state of Florida.

Minimum of 2 years-experience working with children, adolescents and families, with a focus on trauma. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Creole. Salary: $63,000. AND offers 100% employer-paid medical benefits, 12 paid holidays, and generous PTO.


Family Support Coordinator - SALARY UPDATE! *

Are you looking for a great place to work and make a difference? The Family Support Coordinator is responsible for the provision of advocacy, support and linkage services to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families and care givers as well as professionals and others seeking assistance. Utilizes strength-based strategies to build families’ protective factors.


Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelors in social work or related field. Minimum of 2 years-experience working with families who have children with disabilities and knowledge of local community strongly preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
