The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.
Younger Youth (ages 14-15):
- Immersed in Project Based Learning (PBL) where their experience centers on Personal Well-being, Career Exploration, and Work Readiness.
- Engaged in a hybrid PBL model where there will be in person and virtual activities
- Engage in this experience for approximately 12.5 hours per week for 6 weeks.
- Youth can earn up to $700 for this entire experience.
Older Youth (ages 16-24):
- Will have the opportunity to work across multitude of sectors.
- Gain valuable hands-on experience, help them build workplace skills, and explore potential career paths.
- Participants can work for up to 25 hours a week at the NYC minimum wage of $16.50 per hour. The 6 week total hours that can be worked is 150 hours.
Eligibility criteria for the program:
- Be a New York City Resident
- Be legally allowed to work in New York City and in the United States
- Be of age for the respective cohorts mentioned on July 1st.
