Apply Now for Ventura County Business Assistance Grant Program
The Ventura County Business Assistance Grant is now accepting applications at www.vcreopens.com !

Grant funding is being provided to alleviate impacts from COVID-19, and will be awarded in two phases. During the first phase, Business Assistance Grants will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 to 1,000 recipients, selected through a lottery, that meet the criteria.

The program will have two rounds of funding at $5 million each, however applications for both rounds will only be accepted June 24-July 8, 2020.

Documents Needed to Submit Application

The following documents are needed to apply for the grant:
  • The qualified person applying will need to submit a photo or scanned copy of their current Real ID or Driver’s License,
  • their most recent W-9,
  • a photo or scanned copy of their current Business License or, for nonprofit organizations, a copy of their IRS Determination Letter,
  • and ONE of the following documents to show annual revenue: 2018 or 2019 Income Statement for either their fiscal year or calendar year, OR 2018 or 2019 Tax Return, OR a copy of the business or nonprofit’s bank statement on March 31, 2020.

These documents can be uploaded with a photo from your phone (jpeg file) or pdf file.

To request a copy of your City of Oxnard Business Tax Certificate:

  • Call 805-385-7817, Monday–Thursday, 8am-6pm; and alternate Fridays, 9am-5pm (closed June 26 and July 3); a copy can be emailed, faxed or mailed via USPS
  • Email your request to ctlicensing@oxnard.org, include your business name and address; control number or business tax certificate number
  • Fax your request to 805-385-7836, include your business name and address; control number or business tax certificate number 

A copy is typically available the same day.

Businesses in Oxnard that need assistance completing the online application can call the City of Oxnard Economic Development Division at 805-385-7404 or email maria.santana@oxnard.org to schedule an appointment.

Computers at select libraries in Oxnard will be available for use - by appointment only - to complete the application. In order to protect the health of the public and staff, persons will be required to wear a mask while in the library building and to practice social distancing.

The County of Ventura will also be opening libraries throughout our county for businesses to use their computers. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions here for more information.
Apply for County of Ventura Pandemic Rental Assistance Now Through July 1

Movie Theaters Permitted to Reopen
Movie theaters are permitted to reopen on June 26th with modifications and the state's guidance.

Plaza Cinemas movie theater located in the heart of
downtown Oxnard at Centennial Plaza is expected to reopen on July 1st.

According to the Cinemark website the Century RiverPark 16 Theatre is expected to reopen on July 10th, based on the latest state and/or local guidelines. The website also states that a phased reopening will occur with careful planning and greatly enhanced safety measures.
State of California Now Requires Face Coverings in Public and Shared Spaces
The state issued an order requiring all people in California to wear face coverings in public spaces - particularly indoors, or outdoors when distancing is not possible.

Cloth face coverings or masks help reduce the spread of coronavirus especially when combined with physical distancing and frequent hand washing.
