This is LT's quarterly newsletter designed to help LT alumni interested in board service identify and connect with nonprofit organizations that are recruiting board members. Serving on a nonprofit board is a fabulous way to get engaged in the community and apply your leadership. As you can see from the nonprofits below, LT alumni are highly valued! We hope you can find an organization doing work you believe in and want to be involved with.

The Seattle Collaborative Orchestra (SCO) is a diverse, multigenerational performing arts organization dedicated to diversity in symphonic classical music. Benefits Law Center
Benefits Law Center provides accessible legal advocacy to people living with physical and mental disabilities so that they may obtain the resources necessary to overcome barriers to financial and medical stability. Legal Counsel for Youth and Children

Open Arms
Open Arms provides over 300 birthing people and their families each year with perinatal and early parenting support services through highly qualified, culturally-matched doulas and lactation support peer counselors. The support and care provided by Open Arms helps to ensure that families receive the resources they need and that their babies are born at healthy birth weights, on time, and are more likely to breastfeed until baby is at least 6 months old. Linguistics Justice League
Linguistics Justice League’s goal is to leverage natural language processing to translate English media to low resource languages which make learning more accessible for children who speak those languages. We focus primarily on low-resource languages in our projects that other larger organizations do not prioritize. Page Ahead is committed to helping children furthest from opportunity develop strong reading skills. As the leading provider of children’s books and literacy services in Washington state, we work to ensure students have the support they need for reading success. Team Read works to close education opportunity gaps through a unique, cross-age, and year-round one-to-one tutoring program pairing young students with paid teen tutors. Coalition Ending Gender-Based Violence
The Coalition works to end sexual and domestic violence and promote equitable relationships through collective action for social change. In partnership with our approximately 40 member organizations, we lead collaborative efforts in Seattle/King County, Washington that: expand and improve services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, promote laws and policies that support survivor safety and self-determination, raise public awareness about the issue, and prevent gender-based violence. Everyone for Veterans serves low-income combat veterans and their families. We collaborate with civilians and professionals to provide goods, services, and comprehensive dental care to veterans locally and across the nation. Perinatal Support Washington (PS-WA) is a statewide nonprofit committed to shining a light on perinatal mental health to support all families and communities. We prioritize policy solutions that advance racial equity and ensure that all kids, specifically children who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color, have access to opportunities that help them reach their full potential.
