The Journal of Applied Sport Psychology (JASP) is a refereed journal designed to significantly advance thought, theory, and research on applied aspects of sport and performance psychology. Submissions such as experimental studies, qualitative research, correlational studies, case studies, position papers, critical reviews, theoretical developments specific to applied research conducted in sport and/or performance-based settings, or having significant applied implications to sport and performance, are appropriate content for JASP.
JASP is a non-proprietary journal that is an official publication of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Access to journal content is a direct benefit of membership in AASP and is received by its student and professional members.
The position has an initial term of three years (starting January 2026), providing
satisfactory performance, and including an annual stipend, with the potential for
reappointment on review.
The responsibilities of the JASP Associate Editor include the following tasks:

Enhance the productivity and performance of JASP (e.g., increase submission rates, visibility of JASP to potential contributors and readers);
- Assign manuscripts to Editorial Board members and reviewers;
- Make decisions about manuscripts based on recommendations from the Editorial Board and reviewers;

Oversee AASP and APA ethical codes and APA and JASP guidelines as they pertain to the journal operations; and,

Nominate potential Editorial Board members to the JASP Editor in Chief and support the journal's annual awards processes.
The following desirable experience and skills for the role are proposed:
- A doctoral-level qualification (or the equivalent) in applied sport/performance psychology or related area(s);
- Editorial Board (or commensurate) experience for a peer-reviewed journal;
- A thorough knowledge of expertise in multiple areas of applied sport and performance psychology; and,
- Experience having published in peer-reviewed journals.
