How Do You Get a BIG FAT Grant to Improve Your Community?

EGF Accelerator Fellow Jibreel Jalloh never gave up.

EGF Accelerator fellow and community organizer Jibreel Jalloh, is the founder of The Flossy, whose mission is to help the underserved people of Canarsie, Brooklyn create a better New York. Canarsie can be a tough neighborhood and Jalloh and The Flossy campaigned for years to win funding aimed at stemming the tide of gun-related violence there. It wasn't easy but Jalloh was unswerving. Tucked into the most recent city budget was $1.6 MILLION for Canarsie, which will be distributed to a social service organization to help prevent gun violence and provide support to victims.

Jalloh believes making Canarsie safer will allow the young people there to thrive, We agree!
