NURSE EXTERN PROGRAM



About the Program:

Over the course of this 10-week program, candidates completing their last year in school will be provided with exceptional professional development opportunities, making the transition from nursing student to confident, experienced RN.

Nurse Externs are required to work three, 12-hour shifts for the full duration of the 10-week program. Positions will include day and night-shift opportunities with weekend availability.

Core Curriculum Focus:

Students will be matched with one of the following:

• Medical-Surgical
• Adult ICU
• Emergency Department
• Pediatrics

SPECIALTY NURSE INTERN PROGRAM

About the Program:

In this year-round internship, students will be placed in the PICU, NICU, or OR for the duration of the program. Our flexible program schedule will allow you to continue your studies and provide an opportunity to experience nursing at the University of Chicago Medicine!

Nurse Specialty Interns are required to work three 12-hour shifts per week for the full duration of the 10-week program. Positions will include day and night-shift opportunities with weekend availability.

Following the summer program, the expectation is to continue working throughout the entire academic year with flexible scheduling.

• Pediatric ICU (PICU)
• Neonatal ICU (NICU)
• Operating Room (OR)
