“As we begin this month’s new theme, this “Making Sense of Mondays” article will be dedicated to highlighting some amazing opportunities that a Rohnert Park Chamber member would do well to prioritize.

During an extremely challenging moment in history (2020 and the Spring of 2021) our Chamber leadership courageously rescued our annual fundraiser events; Holiday Lights and the Crab Feed, producing incredible marketing and advertising venues for our members.
Thank you to the leadership of the Rohnert Park Chamber for all that you do to help our members “thrive economically, socially and culturally”. Orange Tier Coming Soon!
Great news! Sonoma County may be eligible to move to the Orange Tier by early to mid April. When Sonoma County moves to the Orange Tier, the following will change:

How is Orange Tier Eligibility Determined?
The State looks at three metrics to determine tier advancement:

Adjusted case rate. Daily new cases (per 100k)
-
Test Positivity rate
-
Health equity metric (test positivity rate for Healthy Places Index quartile 1)
Sonoma County must meet tier metrics for the next tier (Orange Tier in Sonoma County's case) for 2 consecutive weeks to be eligible to move to the next tier, Orange.
As of March 30, 2021 Sonoma County has sustained Orange Tier metrics or better for one week. If these metrics are maintained for one more week, Sonoma County could be in Orange Tier as early as April 6, 2021.
Additionally the State has set a goal to administer 4 million vaccine doses statewide to California residents in quartile 1 of the Healthy Places Index to ensure equitable vaccination distribution. As of April 1, 2021 that State has administered 3,629,008 doses in quartile 1. When the State meets their 4 million goal, the State will adjust the case rate to make it easier for counties to enter the orange tier, and Sonoma County could move into the orange tier under this scenario.

Sonoma County COVID-19 Testing & Vaccine Information

Between 30 to 40 percent of people who have COVID-19 have mild or no symptoms and don't know they have it.
-
COVID-19 is highly transmissible. This is even more true now with new variants spreading throughout California and and the rest of the world.

Increasing testing gives us a truer picture of community spread.
-
We can also advance to the orange tier by testing more. If we continue to test at a high rate compared to other counties, our case rate could be adjusted at or below the orange tier threshold of 3.9 new daily cases.

Testing is easier and more comfortable than in the fall.

Sonoma County COVID-19 Vaccine Information Website
The supply of COVID-19 vaccines in the United States is currently limited and the County of Sonoma is following State and Federal guidelines for distribution. Priority administration of the vaccine has been determined by a number of factors including risk of exposure from work or living environments, as well as vulnerabilities due to age and medical conditions.

California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program
On February 23rd, Governor Newsom signed into law a comprehensive package
providing urgent relief for the small businesses of CA. The package provides $2 billion
– a four-fold increase over the $500 million currently being distributed – for grants
up to $25,000 for small businesses impacted by the pandemic, and allocates $50 million of this total for non-profit cultural institutions.

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Reopens
Deadline Extended to May 31st
Lending institutions are now accepting applications
If you received PPP in Round 1, you may prefer to apply again through your existing lender. However, this is not a requirement; some lenders are not offering the PPP this time or delaying the opening date.

ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOANS (EIDL) & EIDL Advance
- You can apply for an EIDL through December 31, 2021.

One loan only per business (you cannot apply for a second). However, if you borrowed less than you were eligible for, you may request an increase on your existing loan.
- EIDL Advances (grants up to $10K) will re-open for a second round to businesses in low-income communities who received an EIDL advance in the first round. The SBA will notify businesses if they are eligible.

AB 685 (Chapter 84, Statutes of 2020) is a California law that requires employers to notify employees who may have been exposed to COVID-19 and to report workplace outbreaks of COVID-19 to their local health department.
