April & May Happenings

LAST CALL for Butter Braids!

This weekend will be the last chance to order Butter Braids. Orders can be placed online here.

We appreciate all of your support this year and helping send our teens to the ELCA National Youth Gathering. We hope these butter braids help provide a fun and easy treat for Mother’s Day or any other upcoming special day!

Farewell and Godspeed

for Kari Reiseck

Sunday, May 5

As you know, Kari Reisick, Director of Children and Family ministry, will be leaving St. Mark’s staff in May. The staff and members of the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Committee would like to invite you to a farewell reception for Kari on Sunday, May 5th following worship. Mexican food is one of Kari’s favorites and it being Cinco de Mayo, that is the theme for the day. We are planning a buffet Mexican food luncheon and a program that will celebrate Kari’s 10 years of ministry at St. Mark’s. It will be a time to say thank you and wish her well in however God calls her next. A sign-up sheet will be available both online and at the Welcome Center for general numbers only. More details and ways to help will be forth coming. Please contact the church office, Jeanne Flynn, or Mary Mandel if you would like to help.

Important VBS Info

After looking at a variety of options and lots of discussion, we are sad to announce that St. Mark’s will not host a VBS this year. With the youth ministry position in transition we aren’t staffed to execute it nor do we have a leadership volunteer base in place. But this beloved ministry will continue – we can’t wait to come back with VBS in 2025! In the meantime, we’ll be putting out a list of other local recommended VBS programs soon to help families this summer. And you might just see a family summer event or two popping up too to help keep us all connected.

MOTHER'S DAY OFFERING

Starting soon!

Have you ever felt stressed, anxiety, depression or many other mental health challenges or know others you care about who have or who are dealing with these issues? Do you know where to turn to for help and resources to deal with these challenges? One great option is NAMI KDK (National Alliance on Mental Illness, Kane/DeKalb/Kendall Counties).

In recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness month, we are focusing our Mother's Day Fundraiser to support the efforts of NAMI KDK. Stay tuned for brochures and other information on their programs. You can also check out their website here for more information.

Congratulations
