April is National Financial Literacy Month. It's a great time to focus on budgeting, saving, and understanding America's banking system.

You can find multiple financial literacy learning resources on the iSOSY website including the Finanza Collection, English for Daily Life Banking & Numbers, and Math for Living's practical concepts.

[Tip: Search "finance" on the home page to see a list of every resource.]

April is also National Alcohol Awareness Month. This important topic is a good one to discuss with migratory students of all ages and their families.

The iSOSY Personal Wellness package has a thorough lesson called Let's Talk About Alcohol available in both English and Spanish.

There is also a fact sheet in the Bilingual Clip Sheets Health collection focused solely on alcohol facts.

Focus on Stress Awareness

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact of stress on our physical and mental well-being. Chronic stress can affect everything from our immune system to our sleep, making it crucial to manage stress effectively. During this month, take time to assess your stress levels and explore strategies like mindfulness, exercise, and proper time management to reduce stress. By making small adjustments to your routine, you can improve your overall health and create a more balanced, peaceful lifestyle. Prioritize your well-being and remember: stress management is key to living a happier, healthier life.

To help others manage stress, encourage open discussions by using lessons like Let's Talk About Stress from the iSOSY website, which provides valuable insights on recognizing and addressing stress. By creating a safe space for honest conversations and actively listening, you can guide individuals toward healthier coping strategies and resources to better manage their mental well-being.

Celebrate Earth Day

on April 22!

Earth Day was established in 1970 to celebrate our environment and raise awareness for the need to learn about the best ways to protect it. In addition, April is Keep America Beautiful Month and the Keep America Beautiful Foundation is sponsoring local efforts to collect a goal of 25 million pieces of litter nationwide by July 4.

National Geographic offers a webpage HERE that is full of interesting and interactive Earth Day resources for teens and adults.

Earthday.org is full of more great resources for students of all ages. Migratory farmworker students may be especially interested in the Regenerative Agriculture Quiz.
