MISSION

GOD'S WORK. OUR HANDS

LUTHERAN WORD RELIEF- THANK YOU!
Lutheran World Relief Quilts and Kits Have Been Shipped. A Big Thank You to all who have donated school supplies and soap and those who quilted over the past twelve months. Our Women of the ELCA group was able to pack and ship 76 beautiful quilts, 157 bars of soap and 55 back packs filled with school supplies. All of this is being sent to Lutheran World Relief warehouses in Maryland where they will be sent to people in need in America and around the world. We'll be tracking the quilts you made and reporting on where the Christ Lutheran quilts will be put to use. Special Thank You to Vic and Jeanette Fair, Wallene Ludwig, Shirley Mueller and Tanya Rosenbaum who packed and labeled all the boxes in preparation for their next destination. Willie and Wallene Ludwig will deliver all the boxes to Zion Lutheran Church collection center after Easter joining all the other churches for shipment to Houston for transportation to Lutheran World Relief.

HUNGER
Canned and non perishable food donations in April will be donated to Bread Partners of Washington County. Please help by bringing your canned and non-perishable food items to the food table located in the narthex.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER
MARK YOUR CALENDAR - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9
Save Sunday afternoon, September 9th, on your calendar to come to Christ and help package and box more than 10,000 meals for our ministry partner Rise Against Hunger. The meals we packed last year went to feed hungry school children who are living in poverty in Nicaragua. Be a part of this year's event and see who will be blessed by our efforts on God's Work, Our Hands Sunday!

QUILTING
Our quilters are in need of fabric and folks who will sew quilt tops. You can bring the fabric to the church office and if you can help with sewing quilt tops please  contact Jeanette Fair at 979-277-8035 .

WATER TO THRIVE
WATER WELL-NO.13
Pastor Mark recently discovered that grants from our Foundation to Water to Thrive in 2010 and 2011 were used to dig four wells in Ethiopia...three years before the congregation began supporting this wonderful ministry. That means that together, the Foundation and the congregation have funded twelve water wells. This year is the tenth anniversary of Water To Thrive, which began as a class project for an adult Bible study group at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church in Austin. In 2015 Ethiopia entered an extended drought that continues today, bringing famine and hardship to the people....and making our water wells even more precious. This summer we'll return our focus to digging wells.......and begin raising money to dig Well No. 13.

DAY SCHOOL NEWS
day schoo letterhead

Spring has definitely sprung at the Day School! At a recent playground work day, more than 25 parents came together to refurbish equipment, clean, rake, trim and get the gardens ready for the children to plant. This boost of freshness is just what we needed to round out the school year! The Master Gardeners club will be by to help the children plant their spring veggies and learn more about where our food comes from, how to care for the plants and how to harvest.
Indoors, we have set 60 guinea eggs in incubators, and watch and wait to see signs of life peeking through their shells. We can't wait to see the tiny chicks!

Our CLASS organization has planned a couple of Chili's Gives Back nights. We hope you will go for a meal during one of those days (April 18 &19) and mention that you are there to support Christ Lutheran Day School. There will be coupons available on the Heartline desk.

Happy Spring,
Ginny Gaskamp
