Introductions to Today’s Lessons

Acts 10.34-43

Cornelius, a centurion in the military force in Palestine, and already a believer in God, has had a vision. As a result, he has invited Peter to visit him and his household. It was against Jewish law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile, but Peter comes anyway, with “some believers from Joppa”.

Colossians 3.1-4

The author has described baptism as being “raised with Christ” and becoming sharers in his suffering and death. Baptism entails dying to one’s old ways and focusing on new, godly, ones.

John 20.1-18

John tells us the events of the Sunday morning after Jesus died and was buried. Mary Magdalene has witnessed Jesus’ death on the cross and has been present at his burial in the tomb hewn out of the rock. The orderliness of the linen wrappings shows that the grave has not been robbed.

EASTER MORNING MUSIC

The 10:00 am Festival Service of Eucharist on Easter Sunday will feature the full Trinity Choir, accompanied by brass quartet, timpani, violin, handbells, piano and organ!  A pre-service instrumental music recital will begin at 9:45 am that morning. During the service, soloists and choir will present an eclectic mix of choral music, including Jonathan Willcock’s joyful and carol-like “Easter Rejoicing, ” Dan Forrest’s reflective “This Is The Day” and Allen Pote’s triumphant “Risen Indeed!” Invite your friends and family to join you for this celebratory service as we raise our voices in song in praise of the Risen Lord!

Watch at the Altar of Repose

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.” And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, COULD YOU NOT WATCH WITH ME ONE HOUR? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

(Matthew 26:36,40-41)

The WATCH will be kept before the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose in the Chapel at Trinity Church from the end of the Maundy Thursday Liturgy on April 2 until 12 o’clock midnight, and then from 5 o’clock in the morning until 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Good Friday, April 3. You are invited to come for silent prayer and meditation before the Sacrament at the Altar in the Chapel. Since the Holy Eucharist is not celebrated on Good Friday, the Blessed Sacrament will be brought back to the Nave Altar for the Administration of Holy Communion toward the end of the Good Friday Liturgy at 7.00pm.

Sign-up sheets are in the Lobby and Table at Rear of Nave.
