What's To Come This Summer in Ohio!
Jim Waechter, Moderator
|
|
The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC) will welcome Rev. Brett Younger, Senior Minister of Plymouth Church, Brooklyn, NY as this year’s Bible Lecturer at the June
Annual Meeting and Conference in Cleveland, OH
.
Brett was excited to be given the meeting theme, “Jesus the Heart of it All,” because Jesus is at the heart of what he wants to lecture about. Brett will spend three sessions looking for our stories in Mark’s story of Jesus. We may find that we are the would-be disciples, hungry souls, and surprising saints of the second Gospel.

Proactive Prevention
Cindy Bacon Hammer, Chair, Board of Directors
|
|
The Board of Directors (BoD) has created a task team to look at the best possible way for our member churches to prevent and deal with sexual abuse. This is a proactive move on the part of the BoD. Though much work has been done in the past, the Board feels strongly that now is the perfect time to take another look at this issue, for the protection of our children, members and churches. We are asking our readers to consider being a part of this important task team. Thus far, the team has three members, and we are looking for a few more. If you are interested in participating in this task team, please contact me by phone at 608-212-4226, or
email

Churches Investing In Their Future
Varn Philbrook, Board of Governors
The
Congregational Investment Trust (CIT
)
held their annual meeting in February at our NACCC Headquarters. Senior financial advisors Eric Salzer and Elizabeth Stone from Vanguard’s Institutional Advisory Services hosted the in-person presentation to all available local members and the CIT oversight committee. Other member churches attended via video-conference. Eric focused on reviewing this past year’s performance, particularly after the not-so-spectacular December showing of the markets! Our, and by Our I mean both the Association and the NACCC member churches who are invested in the CIT weathered the downturn in a very safe and sane manner.
The CIT program is open to all NA member churches and provides an investment vehicle for their individual monies aggregated to greatly reduce management fees while providing first class institutional advisory services.
