Go Green with Lee's Summit

Residents are invited to participate in upcoming activities that contribute to our community and help them connect with neighbors. Whether it’s cleaning up streams or participating in recycling events, these opportunities make a real difference in our City. Let’s work together to keep Lee's Summit a clean and sustainable place!

Stream Team

April 18 | 10 a.m. - noon

McKee Park | 501 NE Todd George Parkway

Volunteer for Stream Team and help protect our local stream-side habitats by removing litter and debris from streams within the City’s parks. Trash bags and gloves are provided. Student and scout community service hours are available. Prizes are awarded for the most unique items collected.

Volunteers must register and sign a waiver before the event.

RecycleFEST

April 25 | 9 a.m. - noon

City Maintenance Facility | 1971 SE Hamblen Road

This free event offers Lee’s Summit residents an opportunity to dispose of a variety of items that can be recycled and refurbished, reducing harm to the environment and saving landfill space. Items include adult bicycles, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, eyeglasses and crayons. Residents can bring up to four paper grocery bags of sensitive documents per household to be shredded and recycled.

Sweep the Summit

April 25

Gather your group of do-gooders and create your own cleanup on a city street. We provide the trash bags. Prizes will be awarded for the most unique item found and the most waste collected.

Please register the street or area that will be cleaned. You will be contacted to coordinate the pickup of supplies and where the full trash bags will be collected.

Stormwater Education

Preparing your lawn for the next growing season? When lawn chemicals are applied improperly, rainwater transports excess chemicals to nearby streams and causes pollution. Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions on all lawn chemicals.
