COVID-19 UPDATE FROM MEDCHI
April 1, 2020
Dear MedChi Members and Maryland Physicians:

Here's what we want you to know today:

  • The Maryland Department of Health will hold their all-physician call today at 5:00 pm. Register here. Please note: MedChi has accredited these calls for CME credit beginning with the March 30 call. Certificates will be sent to participants upon completion of the online evaluation. More details are available in the slides presented with the call.

  • We have gathered several small business resources for medical practices that have been shuttered due to the pandemic. If you need help or have questions about keeping your business viable, please reach out to us.

  • MedChi's lobbying firm, Schwartz, Metz & Wise, PA, has developed an informative memo with details and resources for small businesses.

  • Comprehensive information on requirements, responses, and relief for businesses in Maryland can be found here.

  • MedChi is advocating on behalf of the physicians and patients of Maryland. We have sent communications:

  • Requesting financial assistance for physician practices from Medicaid;

  • MedChi developed a webcourse in partnership with Rockpointe and the Maryland Nurses Association to prepare healthcare providers who work in an ambulatory-care setting to properly manage patients who present to their outpatient facility with symptoms of COVID-19. This no-cost 1.5-hour webcourse will be available on-demand for the next 12 months.

  • The Maryland Insurance Administration has issued a brief and helpful set of FAQs.

We will send another email update tomorrow, Thursday, April 2.

Please reach out to us if you have questions or if there are specific resources you are looking for. Thank you for all that you do as physicians, healers, and heroes.
